We went to the living room.
He glanced at me. Then, he stretched out his hand and instructed me, "Give me your hand!"
I frowned, "What are you doing?"
He didn't say anything. He just looked at me.
I was speechless but still stretched my hand to him. Then, he placed the black card in my hand. I was about to refuse when he stopped me, "Keep it. At least make them feel at ease."
I curled my lips and did not speak for a long time.
"Arianna, no one wanted things to be taken this far, but we have to move forward somehow. We shouldn't be taking steps backwards. The only thing we can do is try to live a good life now."
I nodded and understood what he meant. I smiled gently and said, "Stop being so righteous. I'm not as bad as you think. I know that everything is fine now. So, let's live well from now on."
It was spring.
At times, it rained incessantly in Ucrebury. Other times, it was sunny. Flowers bloomed on the roadside in the central city of Ucrebury.
Peach blossoms began to bloom in many tourist attractions. After finishing up my Ucrebury affairs, I brought Anne with me and ordered tickets to Jarold city.
I headed to the airport.
Ian and Sawyer were worried about us and insisted on sending me to the boarding gate. Ian held Anne tightly to him, his face was full of reluctance, "You live well in Ucrebury too. Why do you have to go?"
I smiled, "We just talked about this yesterday. You can't complain about me leaving. Are you worried that I won't take good care of Anne?"
He puckered his lips, "You're her mother. I have nothing to worry about. You should go now. Don't be an eyesore."
I didn't have much with me. I only brought a bag because it would be too troublesome having to carry Anne along with other things. Thus, the only things I had with me were Anne's milk bottle and diapers.
Sawyer had flagged for the crew in advance, so someone had already helped me carry all my other luggage.
As I was about to board the plane, Ian hesitated for a moment and then asked, "Are you sure you don't want to tell Hendrix that you're boarding the plane?"
I shook my head and gently cracked a smile.
When I was waiting for the car, a black Bentley stopped in front of me and the window rolled down.
It had been a few days since we last saw each other. Aaron seemed to have lost some weight and his facial features had become even more refined.
"It's not easy getting a taxi at the airport. It's going to be peak hours soon, and there will be traffic jams all over Jarold City. Get in the car!" He said with a deep look in his eyes.
I tightened my lips and glanced at the taxi approaching not far behind him. Then, I ignored him and went into the taxi instead.
After getting in the car, I told the driver the hotel address. When the driver saw me bringing a baby with me, he couldn't help but ask kindly, "Are in Jarold City visiting relatives?"
I shook my head. Anne was sleeping soundly. I lowered my voice and replied, "I have some things to deal with here."
The driver started the car and said with a smile, "Are they work-related?"
I nodded, "Yes!" "My daughter is about the same age as you. Young people have it pretty hard these days. Her kid's still young, so she has to take him to work with her. It's so difficult for her." The driver sighed and looked at the rearview mirror while speaking.
He then frowned and said, "What's wrong with the Bentley behind us? It has been following you from the airport. Is it someone you know?"
