"It's a friend who I met on the plane. You don't know her. But don't worry, I will take good care of myself."
After a moment of silence, he said, "Alright. When you go out, remember to text me. Send me the address later and I'll go pick you up."
I agreed and hung up.
Not long after, someone knocked on the hotel door. It was Evan.
He always had a cold face. When he saw me open the door, he stated, "Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Roberts asked me to send you these clothes."
I nodded and took the clothes, "Thank you!"
He nodded and left without saying another word.
I then went back to the hotel room and got myself changed.
Soon, Shirley called me on the phone again. She informed me that she had arrived at the lobby.
I quickly packed up and went downstairs. When I saw a black Bentley parked at the entrance of the hotel, I couldn't help but stare in awe at it.
The car window was rolled down. At the driver's seat, a man with a stone cold face stared at me.
He was like a familiar stranger. Were there two completely different people with the exact same name in the world?
"Arianna!" Shirley was sitting in the front passenger seat. She tilted her head and greeted me, "Get in the car!"
I was dumbfounded for a moment. Then, I came back to my senses and got in the car.
"What were you thinking about just now? You didn't seem to hear me even though I was calling for you." Shirley then introduced the man behind the wheel. "This is my fiance, Irvin Granger. When I was on my way to you, I met up with him as he had just finished his business. So, I came together with him. Do you mind?"
I took a look at him, but I was still in shock. I shook my head slightly and said, "No... I don't mind!"
Looking at the man's handsome side profile, depression sank its melancholic teeth into me for a moment. I didn't know how many questions I had buried in my heart that I was dying to ask. But since Shirley was here, I couldn't say anything.
We arrived at the restaurant.
Shirley seemed to be in a good mood. Holding Irvin's hand, she suggested, "Mr. Granger, please order. I like the dishes that you order."
Irvin agreed dispassionately. Soon, he laid his eyes on me and raised his eyebrows, "Miss Reid, what do you like to eat?"
With a blank look, Shirley nodded and left obediently.
I curled my lips, looking rather disturbed as Sherry had described. I avoided him and walked straight out of the door. He followed me without saying a word.
Outside the restaurant, I raised my hand to call a taxi. He continued standing next to me without saying a word.
The phone in my pocket rang and I answered it. It was Hendrix, "Where are you? Are you coming back? I'm coming to pick you up."
"Not yet... I'll go back myself, so you don't have to come!" I didn't know what state of mind Hendrix would be in if he saw Irvin, so I had no choice but to lie to him.
On the other end of the phone, he was silent for a while. He then responded reluctantly, "Alright, I'll wait for you at the hotel!"
Hanging up the phone, I set my eyes on the cars at the side of the road. There was only one thought in my mind, which was to go back to the hotel.
"It's not easy taking cabs in Mesville. Do you need me to give you a ride?" The man behind me, who had been silent for a long time, asked indifferently.
"No, thank you!"
"Hehl" The man jeered, "I can't believe you didn't ask me anything, Arianna. This is not like you!"
