At the cafe.
After finding a seat, she sat down and ordered herself a cup of strong coffee.
As she gracefully stirred her coffee, I looked down at the glass of milk I ordered. To be honest, I had no interest in coffee; I just didn't enjoy it.
Looking at her, I couldn't help but say, "You and your mother are really alike."
They both liked strong coffee.
She looked down at the coffee in her hand and seemed to understand what I meant. She asked, "How far exactly are you going to go?"
I was stunned, and I didn't know how to respond. "What?"
She raised her eyebrows and said coldly, "Calvin has been sentenced to death. Arnold is being investigated while my mother also got involved. If you're looking to take revenge on me, wouldn't my child and mother's reputation suffice?"
"No!" I replied coldly, "I had nothing to do with what happened to your child. Moreover, I don't think killing a child would bring me comfort. As for your mother, isn't she currently safe and sound? She was just investigated. If she didn't do anything, she would still be a rich woman and her reputation would still be intact. However, if she really did those filthy things to get to where she is, she would be found out sooner or later, wouldn't she?"
I sneered as I wiped the coffee off my face with a tissue. "Innocent? If Calvin was innocent, then the few lives he had taken would be more innocent than him. Quit acting like you don't know why he was sentenced to death. Arnold, innocent? What about all the people whose lives were affected by his money raids all these years? How many innocent people's lives do you think were ruined by him? And calling your mother innocent? My, that's even more ridiculous. Aren't you aware of what she did to kill my child? Have you never wondered about all the nasty things she did to get to where she is today?"
My smile grew colder. "As for your brother, yes, he was smart and knew that he didn't have much time left. So, he entrusted you to Hendrix. His death isn't anyone else's fault; it was just his fate. However, he had also ruined Hendrix's life. You love Hendrix, but have you ever asked him whether he loved you back?"
Andrea bit down hard on her lip. Seeing her reaction, I smiled. "You know Hendrix doesn't love you, right? He's only carrying out this responsibility out of a sense of duty to your brother; because he promised your brother that he'd take care of you. So, with just a few words, he became a life- long burden to Hendrix. How is he innocent?"
"Bullsh*t!" She was flooded with emotions. "Things aren't like that at all! If you didn't show up, Hendrix would have married me. It was because of you; your sudden appearance forced him into a dilemma."
