My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 361

Irvin's face darkened. His expression did not look good.

I lifted my hand to take my glass of beer but was stopped by him. With a low solemn voice, he said, "You're a little drunk."

For a moment, everyone on the table turned their gaze to us. I withdrew my hand from his grasp and said lightly, "Yeah, I'm feeling a little tipsy."

It was really uncomfortable when everybody's eyes fell on me. Plus, Irvin was sort of embarrassing me in front of everyone and that made me feel even more uneasy.

As usual, he continued serving me food and did not let me drink anymore. Instead, he was caring and considerate enough to give me a glass of milk.

The meaning behind his actions were a little too evident. Everyone at the table seemed to catch on and they all knew what he was doing.

I felt even more uncomfortable with the current situation. It was hard to find the words to explain the situation as it was a meaningless thing to do.

Hendrix's message flashed through my phone screen. "What are you doing now?"

I replied, "The contract is signed. I'm now out having dinner."

Hendrix texted back. "Did you drink?"

I then replied, "Yeah, but not too much."

After a while he texted me again. "Can you send me the address?"

I puckered my lips. He was in Jarold City. It was impossible for him to come and pick me up from the restaurant. I texted him back. "Fortunate Restaurant. I'll head back soon."

After that, there was dead silence from him. Putting my phone down, I made a trip down to the bathroom. I was feeling a little dizzy because of the shots that I downed just now.

I splashed cold water onto my face in the bathroom. As I staggered out, I accidentally knocked over a waitress.

I knew about that. When I found out, I was mad at Kelsey. But I decided to forgive her over the deep bond we had for that past two years. I gave her a word of warning and asked her to leave the Roberts Group voluntarily.

Nonetheless, I totally did not expect things would play out in such a way.

Saying that, did that mean that Hendrix knew the truth about this matter?

After a pause, I said to Kelsey, "It's over. I'll tell Hendrix when I get back. You're capable and have great potential in your job. He probably did it because he was angry at that time. I'll make it clear to him. By the way, don't continue working here. It isn't great. If you can, try to leave Calvin too, he isn't that great of a person for you to stay with him."

Life was short and it was not her wish to meet such an evil man.

Still feeling dizzy, all I could think about was getting back to the villa. I patted her on the shoulder and then turned to leave.

Kelsey, however, unexpectedly pulled me back and knelt down. She cried, "Director Reid, I'm sorry. It was all my fault. I shouldn't have done it back then. I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure that I have received my retribution for it."
