My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 2194

Hendrix looked at me and understood where I was coming from. He relaxed and asked again, "I don't need to know how you're going to clean up this mess. What I want to know is now that we've been sabotaged, what do you plan to do about it?"

Did he mean that Anne should retaliate?

Anne understood what he meant by this but felt clueless and confused. "Of course, we can't let this go easily, but by warning the staff, avoiding the gangsters and barring them from entry should be..."

Hendrix took a deep breath, looked down, and asked, "Someone has just sabotaged us, yet you're letting them go just like that and are finding ways to be defensive instead? Who taught you to be like this? Aaron?"

That was uncalled for. Aaron would fight back and make them suffer at least ten times what they did to us. He wouldn't just accept this and keep quiet about it.

"No." Anne frowned and looked at the floor to avoid Hendrix's sharp gaze. She seemed to have some other concerns in her mind.

Hendrix asked, "What are you worried about?" After a moment of silence, she raised her head but didn't respond to Hendrix's question. Instead, she looked at me anxiously.

I didn't understand why she was staring at me, but I somehow felt like shifting my position. I tucked my hair behind my ears and asked, "Why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?"

Hendrix looked like he had understood something and then asked directly, "You don't dare to fight back because of your mother?"

Anne nodded slowly, took out a photo from her pocket, and respectfully handed it to Hendrix.

Hendrix glanced at the photo and threw it to me with a blank expression on his face. He then crossed his legs, smiled, and asked, "What are you saying? Do you think I've betrayed your mommy and our family?"

It was just like the time when Quinn and the others came to our house. It was a photo of Hendrix and Andrea, but this time they were standing much closer to each other.

When Anne suddenly showed up the last time, I hid the photos as quickly as I could so that the children wouldn't get the wrong idea. I didn't know she had kept one with her.

What?

I couldn't help but widen my eyes. This was very different from what I had imagined. Wasn't Hendrix supposed to push everything away and deny them? What was he trying to do here?

Did he not care about his image in front of the children?

Anne was very calm. She listened silently and didn't respond nor did she express any opinions. It seemed that she was simply accepting this as fact and didn't intend to question Hendrix further.

If she hadn't questioned him about this, it meant that she didn't care at all. In her heart, Hendrix and I were the same, just outsiders. The only thing different was we were related by blood. Other than that, nothing we do could affect her.

I felt a mix of emotions at this moment.
