My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 2167

Hendrix stopped moving for a moment and said, "It's not up to him."

After a moment of silence, he suddenly changed the topic. "On another subject, if we have to face a life- or- death situation today, and if you had to choose between the children and me, who would you choose?"

Thinking that there was a hidden meaning to his question, I immediately tensed up. I grabbed his hands and turned my head to face him. Looking deep into his eyes, I said solemnly, "There will never be a day like that."

Hendrix smiled and wrapped his arms around me. He said with a smile, "Let's just say there is. The kids or me?"

"Well..." Knowing that he was joking, I relaxed. As I contemplated this, I shook my body so that Hendrix swayed with me on the sofa. "I'll choose the children. They're still young and have an infinite amount of possibilities in their futures. We've lived long enough. It doesn't matter if we go now. If anything happens to you, I will go with you!"

Both of my hands were on Hendrix's neck. I draped my body on top of him like a pendant swaying from it's clasp. I blinked at him, awaiting his praise.

That should have been the correct answer. Although I chose the children, he would still be with me for the rest of our lives. There was no need to be jealous.

Hendrix wasn't surprised at all. "Just as I thought."

When he said this, the smile on his face gradually faded away. "Josiah must leave because of this. With him around, Anne will never prioritize you."

"Arianna, it doesn't matter where I stand in your heart, but you have to be equally valued by whoever you value. This way, even if I'm no longer by your side, you will not be the children's second choice."

What was wrong with this man? The things he was saying made my nose feel sour.

He was thinking about me and wanted everyone to put me first. Wasn't he afraid of being blamed and demonized by his own children?

"Come in."

As soon as the door swung open, Anne stepped in.

"Dad, mom, are you about to sleep? May I have a word with you?"

We knew what was on her mind. Needless to say, it must be about Josiah.

Aside from the matter about her future plans, this was the first time Anne actually came to speak up for someone else. As her mother, I didn't know whether I should feel sad or happy about this.

There was a long way to go to repair our relationship!
