If my understanding was correct, Hendrix's "brother- in- law" that Jennifer had mentioned was this man.
From what I remembered, Jennifer wasn't married. With her status, I wouldn't think that she was in love with that man.
Jennifer seemed to be very concerned that Hendrix might hurt this man. As soon as he approached him, she sat up on the side of the bed and hugged that man tightly. Her eyes were alert and she looked timid as she said, "Hendrix, don't make things difficult for him. I'm responsible for everything. I beg of you, please hire someone to take good care of him for my sake, your sister. I've hurt him enough. I can't drag him down with me anymore."
I thought the man was mute, but just then, he spoke with a very feeble voice, "Jenni... fer."
Jennifer heard the man's voice and turned to look at him. Tears had welled up in her eyes and was about to spill out.
Hendrix didn't have the patience to watch such a dramatic love scene. He said coldly, "Tell me, apart from the obituary, my dear sister, what else have you done?!"
I didn't know why, but as I listened to her, I found Jennifer to be very pitiful, "Even so, you had six years to leave, but you delayed it until now. At the end of the day, greed was what brought harm to you."
"I'm greedy, so what?!" Jennifer raised her voice suddenly, "This is what I deserve! How great do you think it is, for my name to be on the Forbes List? In fact, all the assets are being monitored by regulatory agencies that belong to the Marshall family. Apart from my daily expenses, I don't even have the permission to use a million dollars! I had to think of a way to mobilize the financial assets of the company. I initially planned to leave. Who knew that you would suddenly decide to freeze the company's assets, placing me in a dilemma, so I was forced to kidnap Wynn in exchange for some money to flee with Augustus... I swear, Hendrix, I have no intention of hurting Wynn!"
As she spoke, she put her palms together and begged Hendrix for forgiveness, "Please let us live, Hendrix. Let us go. I promise that I'll never appear in front of you ever again..."
