I kept hearing Aurelia's loud voice ringing in my ears and in my mind, I just couldn't stop blaming Hendrix for everything that happened. Suddenly, I heard a familiar, magnetic voice inside the room, "Hey lazy bum."
Sure enough, just as I was thinking about him, he suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I should have just kept quiet.
"Daddy!" Aurelia really was the perfect "daddy's little girl". The moment she heard his voice, she immediately let go of me, got up from the bed and jumped into his arms. She gave him a small kiss on the face and said, "I'm not a lazy bum. I've been awake for a long time now. It's Mommy..."
Hendrix was silent for a moment, then said slowly, "Mommy didn't sleep very well because the bed is too small. Daddy's going to take you out and then we're going to buy a bigger bed, then, we can all sleep together, so Mommy won't get stuck laying in bed."
"Yay!" Aurelia happily clapped her hands.
Was I the only one who thought that his reasoning didn't seem right? If we got a bigger bed, wouldn't we just want to sleep longer?
He had lied to a child and didn't feel any shame from it.
Hold on a minute!
I quickly got up, lifted the quilt away and sat up straight. I opened my eyes wide and looked at Hendrix, who was sitting beside the bed, "You're kidding, right?"
Was he planning to buy a bigger bed just so that he could satisfy his desires?
The thought entered my mind as I asked him that question. My face became so hot, it jolted me awake in an instant.
Hendrix squinted his eyes, glanced at me and smiled, "Do I look like I'm kidding?"
His eyes then turned towards me, his smile suddenly turned malicious. He then walked out of the bedroom with Aurelia.
I then came back to my senses after they had left.
I looked down at myself and realized that Hendrix had been staring at my chest.
I gasped and covered myself under my quilt. I felt so ashamed and angry at him, that shameless man!
In this global era, delivery services have advanced so much that goods can be delivered to your doorstep in just a blink of an eye. The bed might get delivered before I even talk to Hendrix about it.
If that happens, I'd have no choice but to go along with it.
I was so immersed in my thoughts I didn't realize that Aaron had called out my name several times.
"Hey Arianna, I'm talking to you. What are you thinking about?" Aaron seemed a little anxious.
"What?" I then snapped out of it, "What did you say?"
Aaron frowned and redirected his anger towards Hendrix, "Hey Hendrix, for the past six years, Arianna has been missing and you don't even seem worried about her. Now that she's returned, you're draining all of her energy. Couldn't you just take it easy and take care of her instead? You better learn to control yourself, because if anything happens to Arianna, I will never forgive you."
Hendrix heard Aaron but didn't respond to him at all. He paused for a moment as he held his fork and simply froze in place, as though time had stopped.
I looked at him, then at Aaron, and suddenly realized what he had said. My face turned red, "Aaron! The children are here, what nonsense are you talking about?"
