"What are you guys talking about?" I asked.
Hendrix's mouth curled upwards. He asked with a serious look on his face, "You're interested?"
He was being annoying on purpose, but I had to admit that he knew exactly how to get me interested, and he tempted me with an offer I couldn't refuse.
With a long sigh, I returned downstairs and made him the same breakfast as Wynn had.
When I entered the study again, Evan wasn't there anymore. I reluctantly put the plate on the table in front of Hendrix. "Your breakfast."
Hendrix didn't waste any time. He took the food and began to eat silently.
He hadn't even taken two bites before he suddenly stopped.
Was he looking for trouble again? "I've said before that your stomach is used to expensive food. You won't like the plain food I cook."
Hendrix looked at me, then lowered his head and continued eating quietly.
It was just a simple bowl of pasta. In Hendrix's hands, he somehow made it look like he was eating a lavish meal. Combined with his cold and determined appearance, it was a weirdly pleasing sight to behold.
Seeing that he didn't answer me, I walked over and picked up the folder on the table to browse through.
The report was of the life 'Arianna' and Hendrix had before today. The two of them had to go through several hardships to be together. It wasn't easy for them to have a child, but they encountered an accident on that island. One of them died.
Even though I had to pretend to be Arianna for a long time, I didn't feel anything when I read the information in front of me.
I was angry and anxious. As I looked at Hendrix's calm face, I gritted my teeth. Was I to be tricked by this man every day from now on?
Instead of answering me directly, Hendrix changed the subject. "Have you finished reading it?"
"No." I said angrily, "You lied to me and got me to sign an unfair agreement. Now, you want to use me to achieve your goal. Why should I believe that after you get what you want, you'd then keep your promise and find out who I am?"
As I spoke, my chest heaved in anger, and I rolled my eyes at Hendrix.
I seriously doubted him. He never told the truth. This so-called rich president had deceived me for a child's breakfast. I would expose his dirty secrets in front of the reporters sooner or later!
But Hendrix wasn't bothered at all. He calmly placed the last piece of pasta into his mouth, took out the handkerchief from his suit pocket, and slowly wiped his mouth clean. Then he looked up at me indifferently and said, "After signing the contract, you will become Wynn's mother. I am not Irvin, so I'm not going to abandon my family out on the streets. You can trust me to protect my wife and child."
