My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1953

"Wynn!"

It was a pity that I wasn't able to stop Wynn.

After blurting that out, Wynn proudly said, "Madam Reid said it first!"

I was speechless.

Hendrix cast a meaningful look at me. You can imagine what he was thinking of at this moment.

I kept my head down and pretended to tidy up my clothes. I also looked around the room, trying to avoid their gazes.

A moment later, Hendrix whispered, "Call her Mommy from now on."

"Mommy?"

Wynn pouted and grabbed Hendrix's collar. Unexpectedly, he began to speak very seriously. "Do I have to pretend that she's my mother?"

This made me feel pretty guilty.

Children usually weren't very good at lying. No matter how much he liked me, his relationship with his biological mother would always come first. I could never replace her.

Although Wynn was only six years old, he was still quite sensible and had a basic understanding of things.

He hoped for me to stay because he knew that sooner or later, someone would become the next Mrs. Roberts. He wasn't really willing to accept a new mother.

There was still a long way to go to get him to accept me and to grow closer to him.

I had to take things slow.

After a brief moment of silence, I pulled myself together. Serene had spent years of effort doing the same thing only to still be given the cold shoulder. How could I succeed overnight?

I walked forward and took Wynn from Hendrix's arms. "I'll cook you some of your favorite dishes for dinner tonight, okay?"

"Okay!" A child was still a child after all. At the very mention of food, he had forgotten about everything else.

"Impossible," I replied. "Although it's my first time here, I remember clearly that at the first turn upstairs is..."

Halfway through, I suddenly noticed something was wrong.

This room seemed to be located in a very prime location, perfect for the head of a family.

"You..." I looked up and pointed at Hendrix in surprise. "You deliberately told your staff to bring me to this room didn't you?"

Hendrix raised his eyebrows and didn't respond. It was a tacit admission.

I felt embarrassed and annoyed. I quickly moved away from him and said, "Wait, something must be wrong."

I turned around and looked at his innocent-looking face. I was very confused. "As I recall, I've only promised to pretend to be your fiancee for you to gain custody of Wynn. I'm not going to actually marry you, am I?"

Before I entered this house, I thought that both of us had reached a mutual agreement, I had signed the contract without reading it properly.

Hendrix narrowed his eyes and curled his lips upwards. "What do you think?"
