My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1935

It seemed that Irvin was used to my behavior and didn't ask about it. He just calmly poured out a glass of water and handed it to me.

I took a small sip and explained guiltily, "I... I'm actually fine. I just happened to be passing by, so I thought I'd come in and visit."

Irvin changed the topic and asked, "Why are you out today all of a sudden?"

"I went to see a friend," I carefully kept it vague.

Irvin was able to guess who it was since I didn't have many acquaintances. He asked, "Was it Miss Moore?"

"Yes." I had no reasons to hide anything now.

Silence followed my response. My fingers trailed the edge of the glass that was in my hand. I was hesitant about if I should pour out all the doubts I had in my heart to him.

Irvin had been paying very close attention to me and I was sure that he had seen through me in an instant.

A moment later, Irvin went to sit at his desk. Then, he asked casually, "Did you do anything else other than talk? Or did you run into the paparazzi

again?"

I had previously told him about the incident where Freya and I were cornered by the paparazzi in the mall.

I wasn't thinking about that at first but since Irvin brought it up, I couldn't help but ask, "Irvin, you... have you dealt with Mr. Roberts before?"

Irvin's face froze and he said, "Who told you that?"

Irvin's directness left me in a daze.

He did not look guilty at all.

As a result, I felt a little embarrassed. It was much too cold- hearted of me to ask a man who had been protecting me for the past six years about someone who I had just met.

Irvin saw me hesitate. Then, he became serious and asked, "Was it Freya?"

I pursed my lips, "Freya hoped that I could recover my memory as quickly as possible."

It was obvious that he had deliberately changed the subject to avoid answering my question.

However, I've always felt like he was hiding something.

Irvin was the first person I saw when I opened my eyes and he became the person I became the closest to.

However, at this moment, I suddenly felt like I didn't know him at all.

Irvin looked up at me and patted me on the arm with his hand. He said gently, "Don't push yourself too hard. Things will naturally fall into place. Take your time."

I answered, "I know. It won't be long before you're done with work. I'll wait for you."

I would only end up overthinking things if I went home now, so it would be better to take this opportunity to observe Irvin's daily routine at work.

Irvin instructed his secretary to prepare some afternoon tea and went into the conference room to have his meeting.

His office had an open- concept design. The conference room was separated from where I was with a single glass wall. From where I sat, I could clearly see the situation in the conference room.
