My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1885

However, as soon as I finished speaking, I heard a man's deep and hoarse voice sounding from beside me.

"Dad, Mom," Hendrix croaked. It sounded like he was really sick.

Hearing this, I turned my face to look at him, but Hendrix focused on looking into Nathan's eyes. His eyes were determined and clear, as if he was challenging Nathan, asking if the latter was satisfied.

I let out an internal sigh. In the end, Hendrix was still reluctant to let me face this alone, and thus humbled himself in front of Nathan.

As such a proud person with resentment this deep, one could imagine just how much effort it took for Hendrix to acknowledge them as his parents.

At this moment, sounds of footsteps from the stairs came and suddenly, Jennifer's voice sounded, "You're here! Quick, let me have a look at my niece and nephew!"

The clicking of her high heels was just like her mood, cheerful and erratic. We looked over and found a man following behind her. He was wearing a champagne-colored suit and sported a clean crew cut. Since he was handsome, his tacky clothes came off as a statement outfit.

This must be Jordan, Jennifer's second eldest brother.

Jennifer walked towards the children, but Hendrix got up and stopped her, "All children are the same. There's no need to look at them."

Jennifer stopped in her tracks, looking slightly unhappy. "We're family. Would I do anything to hurt them? Hendrix, you're being way too paranoid. Are you really not going to let me see my own niece and nephew?"

... Why did this sound so manipulative?

As I spoke, I walked towards Suanne with the baby in my arms. "Mom, please take a look at Wynn."

Sure enough, Wynn immediately cried when he turned his head and saw Suanne. When the couple heard his cries, they instantly frowned.

"Just leave it be," Nathan raised his hand and waved impatiently, "What a troublesome bunch these kids are. Hurry up and get the servants to take them around so that they can familiarize themselves with their surroundings."

I breathed a sigh of relief and quickly sent the child back to the sitter. Then I shot Evan a look, asking him to take the children out for a walk.

After what Nathan said, Jennifer had nothing else to say. She resentfully sat down on the other sofa. Jordan, who had been silent all this while, took the initiative to come forward and extended his hand to Hendrix, "Welcome home, brother."
