After we sat together for a while, Hendrix seemed to come alive all of a sudden. He got up and led me downstairs. "Let's go, we've been depressed for too long. Now, let's deal with the people who are hindering me from being a sugar baby."
Standing by one's husband was a wife's responsibility. I smiled and let him lead me out.
When we went downstairs, we saw that Baldrick and Jennifer had yet to leave.
Jennifer saw that Hendrix's mood had lightened up significantly and immediately greeted him with a smile, "Hendrix, have you changed your mind? I knew it. You still can't bear to part with our family."
Hendrix didn't reply. He slowly led me to the sofa opposite her and sat down. He folded his long legs, then raised his eyes leisurely, smiling as he said, "I can return, but your nephew and niece can only stay with the Reid Family."
Upon hearing this, Jennifer's face fell as she looked slightly unhappy. "How can that be? The babies are of the Marshall family's blood. How could we leave them with outsiders?"
"That's not right." Emma was the one who couldn't bear to give up the child the most, and she was getting a little emotional. "The Reid family has always treated the children as our own, and the two of them have remarried as well. Outsiders? If you want to talk about outsiders, those who only care about giving birth and then just leaving their children for decades should not have the right to say that they are a family, should they?
Aaron shared the same sentiment and the couple exchanged a look. It was rare for the couple to be so united. However, this only happened in a flash. Soon after, the two returned to their indifferent selves and pretended that nothing happened.
Seeing how embarrassed she looked, I was about to breathe a sigh of relief when Hendrix suddenly nudged me with his elbow. His thick eyebrows lifted up dramatically, indicating to me to continue.
Judging from Hendrix's current state, he probably wanted to corner Jennifer hard.
I had no choice but to cooperate. "Since Mr. Yeager is representing Mr. Marshall, please convey these terms for me. The conditions he stipulated are indeed tempting, but the Reid Family does not need to worry about food and clothing, nor have we fallen to the point of needing to sell out our children to get by. As such, please ask him to rid himself of those thoughts as soon as possible, or he might regret it."
After a pause, I pretended to hold Hendrix's well-defined hand. "The person he looks down upon is a treasure to me. The affection between our two families has long been history since the car accident. If the Marshall family keeps itself safe and sound, we can coexist in peace. If not, it depends on whether the Marshall family has an opponent who can rival my husband. In short, our family has only one principle. If you don't attack us, we won't either. If you do, you will not escape us!"
