Ever since the Roberts Group moved their headquarters to Jarold City, the old estate was left abandoned. Even Uncle Trent and the rest rarely returned. Though Hendrix was busy, he still travelled back and forth frequently between the two locations.
My frown deepened subconsciously. It was no wonder Hendrix hadn't been able to get in touch with me; it seemed he still had something to do with this.
The answer must be at that old estate.
Seeing that I was lost in thought, the man reminded me, "My price only covers investigating Hendrix's whereabouts. I'll have to charge differently if you want to know about the estate."
"I understand. I will personally handle this. Please continue to follow Hendrix." It wasn't that I was worried about money, but the old estate was not a threat. If it harbored secrets that no one knew about, there was no need for too many people to be in the loop.
The man nodded and did not continue. He gave Mullen a sidelong glance, then rose to his feet and left.
Just as I was about to call out to him to ask for more details, Mullen suddenly said, "Boss."
I sat back on the sofa, puzzled.
"Jarold City has its own power in place. It's not our territory, so it might not be the best idea to go there."
What she said made sense. This sort of prying should be handled by someone unnoticeable. So, I decided to change the topic, "Get us two tickets to Ucrebury. You're coming with me."
"No problem." Mullen nodded respectfully.
As soon as I finished talking, I received a phone call from an unfamiliar number.
The speaker was a middle-aged man with a rough voice. "Is this Arianna, Miss Reid?"
"Yes. What is the matter?" I thought about how I had never met such a straightforward man other than Milleon.
"I'm calling from the Southern Police Station. Your client is suspected of causing harm to others and has been detained by us. You are needed at the station." It turned out to be the police.
After that, he immediately hung up.
Thanks to Milleon's lawsuit, the office became a hit in Jarold City. It made sense if they namedropped Fabian. But why would they ask for me, a new lawyer who was neither powerful nor famous?
Moreover, it was a criminal case. I didn't want to be associated with someone like this, so I didn't take the call seriously. But the police made two phone calls again in the afternoon, so I had to
make time to visit the station.
It was common to frequent the police station in the field of law, so networking with the police was an essential part of the job. I could not jeopardize my reputation because of an unnecessary phone call.
The detention cell was located on the right side of the office. As soon as I entered, I saw only a young man detained, with bruises on his face. He must have lost a fight.
Although his hair was a mess, he was young and had exquisite facial features. It was easy to see how handsome he was, a perfect match to his beautiful name.
