My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1845

Hendrix seemed to want to win the charm game. He narrowed his eyes and said thoughtfully, "I don't think investing only in Freya's company is enough. I have to own some of Golden Roof Restaurant's shares to stop you from messing around."

"Is that necessary?" Why was Hendrix craving so much control all of a sudden?

"Of course," Hendrix nodded and looked at me. "Controlling my wife's movements and ensuring her safety - that is my right and responsibility. Do you have any problem with it, Miss Reid?"

At the sight of his victorious glance, I subconsciously shrank my neck, feeling a sense of eeriness.

Hendrix was a brilliant man. It was hard not to doubt that he had also learned about this talk about rights and responsibilities when I was preparing for my law examination.

"It's no problem at all." I shook my head innocently. How could I dare say anything else?

As soon as I finished speaking, I realized Hendrix's expression changed. It was suddenly gloomy and dark, and I didn't know who he was angry with.

After a long silence, Hendrix sighed and looked at me intensely. "I haven't been able to fully look into Santiago yet, but based on the information we have now, he's definitely not a good person. Nevertheless, Valerie and Pedro insisted on putting you two together. I'm worried that the Moore Family won't be the only one in trouble."

In the dark corner of the parking space, the dim light on the ceiling illuminated over Hendrix, and I could only vaguely see the look on Hendrix's face

He frowned slightly, his expression serious, "It's an excuse for Uriah to return to the country. The reason why the Jenkins family moved back is that Santiago, together with several large conglomerates in Mesville, brought down the biggest state- owned company in San Floda. Moreover, he fired tens of thousands of lower-level employees, destroying tens of thousands of families. They did wicked things and couldn't stay any longer, so they were forced to return to the country. People like them only care about money. If the Moore Family really supported the Jenkins family, will history repeat itself? Who's to say..."

Looking at Hendrix, a thought came to my mind. Perhaps he shouldn't be the only one I look into; I should look into my biological parents too.

No matter what difficult situation they had been in, they still abandoned me. They did it once after I was born, and they were doing it again.

"I understand. I'll try my best to avoid him." Nodding, I reached out my hand and gently brushed Hendrix's shoulder. "As for you, you must take care of yourself. Remember, it doesn't matter whether we can remove the toxin in my body. I won't be able to live either if anything happens to you."

We were each other's ride or die. Without one, the world would be meaningless to the other.
