With the sound of the door being slammed shut, Milleon looked back abruptly to make sure that there was no one else in the room. Relieved, he pulled out his phone from his pocket.
After tapping on it a few times, he turned the screen around and handed the phone to me with a smile.
"Miss Reid, there are a few ladies here. Are there any to your liking?" asked Milleon in an ingratiating tone.
Although it sounded a little ridiculous, I still took the device from him and observed it carefully.
On the screen was an album, and the first picture was of a young and beautiful woman, but her eyes looked vacant and dull.
From the thumbnail, I could see shots of the birthday party from the night before, so I flipped through all the other pictures.
I looked through a few, and although the women looked stunning and had amazing figures, I felt that they were all quite mediocre. They weren't particularly special in any way.
In Jarold City, gorgeous men and women were a common sight.
"What do you think?" Milleon asked anxiously.
It felt like someone was giving out questionnaires on the street. I smiled awkwardly and decided to change the topic, "What are you trying to do by showing these to me?"
However, this was his private affair. I couldn't inquire further, so I only stated the truth, "To tell you the truth, Mr. Koch, among these girls you've looked at, I don't think any of them would be compatible with you."
Once he heard this, Milleon's expression became heavy. He placed his hand on the table and tapped his fingers repeatedly as if he was considering something. "Is that so... Nevermind. Since there's no such thing as fate, I'll get my friend to reconsider," he sulked.
Milleon's reaction gave the impression that he had a crush on one of the women among those whom I had rejected.
As the old saying went, you can destroy anything but marriage. I didn't want him to miss out on good things because of me. "Actually, if both sides have feelings for one another, it's enough if they can get along. The most important thing is to establish a comfortable relationship to be able to settle down. You don't have to pay too much attention to what I said before, since I'm just an outsider," I noted.
Milleon put his phone away, and a pleased look was plastered all over his face as he said, "Miss Reid, you don't understand. People like us lack the help of a capable person like you. Since you can't deal with this, and I wasn't able to make it clear to you, I won't bother you about it any longer. Thank you for today, Miss Reid. Also, you seem busy, so I'll be going. I'll treat you to a meal next time as thanks."
