My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1785

Soon, the office doors swung open again, and Simon's secretary brought in the guests.

As Serene walked towards the door, she immediately noticed me. Despite the hint of surprise in her eyes, she managed to greet Simon and Tyler politely. Aside from her own assistant, Hendrix was standing behind her as well.

I wasn't as surprised as Serene was. After all, I had made an agreement with Hendrix that I would disrupt the business deal with Bate Coin. It was only natural that I would bump into Simon as well.

Perhaps it was due to Simon's presence, as Hendrix stopped in his tracks when he saw me, frowning slightly. Then, he walked over to Serene and sat down next to her.

The atmosphere was tense.

Hendrix was the first to speak up, "Why aren't you looking after the children at home? What are you doing here?" His icy demeanor set the tone for the rest of the discussion.

"We've already divorced. How is my life any of your business?" I squinted my eyes impatiently, turned away and asked Simon, "Mr. Drake, are these the ones who intend to compete with me?" "Miss Reid, do you also wish to invest in Bate Coin?" Serene asked tentatively.

Hearing that, I lowered my eyes and stayed quiet for a while. Then, I met her gaze again and smiled as I answered, "It's all thanks to you, Miss Forbes. If it weren't for your greed for the Roberts Group's shares in my hands, I wouldn't have sent someone to conduct an investigation. Turns out, Bate Coin has been rising in value all this while and everyone wants to have a hand in it. Naturally, I wanted to give it a try too."

"Oh?" Simon finally showed a hint of surprise upon hearing me. "So, Miss Reid is here today on behalf of the Roberts Group to agree to my proposal?"

Hook, line and sinker!

"Of..."

"I refuse!" I stated with much dissatisfaction. "Yes, I can't compare to Miss Forbes who runs an entire company, but fate has treated me well too. Even though I can't get my hands on the Roberts Group's shares, Valerie and Pedro can. With the number of stocks, they both have, I'll become a formidable force!"

It didn't matter if I couldn't obtain those shares. At the moment, the most important thing was to annoy Serene and to get the Drake family to act rashly.

Small-scale attacks wouldn't work on them. What I had to do was land a fatal hit on them, so that they couldn't rise back up again.

Serene really disliked talking about her family. Although her face betrayed her annoyance, she held herself back as there were many people present.

I, however, had no intention of restraining myself at all. Raising the phone in my hand, I boasted somewhat casually, "If you don't believe me, I can call Mr. Moore right now."
