My words were stuck in my throat. I cast a glance at the bodyguards to see if Irvin was telling the truth. The answer was so obvious. Irvin had no reason to lie to me.
Hendrix was probably worried that the outsiders would harm me, so before he had left, he had ordered to not let any man in.
I didn't have many male friends. Freya and my other female friends were all free to enter my house, so it was understandable that I did not know about that.
"My apologies," I said sincerely. I asked Irvin to take a seat and asked him, "Where have you been in the past two months? Why haven't I heard anything from you?"
"Mesville," Irvin said with a solemn look.
"Granger Group plans to expand overseas?" With Irvin's ability, I believed that he could expand the family's business after taking over Granger Group.
Irvin shook his head and lowered his gaze to the ground. He seemed to be a little distraught and said, "Shirley and the child are missing."
"What?" I thought I had misheard. "How? Isn't she always around you?"
That silly girl would never leave Irvin no matter what happened.
Irvin frowned and remained silent. His expression showed as if he was in pain and was having a hard time.
Noticing Irvin being in a bad shape, I got up and poured him a glass of warm water in the kitchen.
"Drink some water first." I handed the glass over and comforted him, "You have to take care of yourself before you can search for them."
Irvin placed the glass of water on the coffee table and grabbed hold of my wrist. He was so nervous, and his actions were so swift that the bodyguards who had been standing by almost rushed over. I quickly waved my hand to signal them to calm down so as to avoid another conflict.
"Arianna," Irvin said. He looked at her seriously with a helpless and painful expression, pleading, "I've never begged you for anything, but can you help me this once?"
"Don't worry. I'll send someone to look for them. I'll even head over by myself if the situation allows me to do so," I promised. Even if it was not for Irvin, Shirley was still my good friend.
