My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1592

How could Ian be so cruel to abandon me so easily? We had been friends for more than twenty years.

Hendrix did not comfort me immediately. He stroked my back and forth, giving me enough time to calm down.

I didn't know how much time had passed. I probably was tired from crying, so I sat on the ground, dispirited. Hendrix got up and carried me into the bedroom.

After covering me with the blanket, Hendrix was about to take a shower. I subconsciously grabbed his wrist and didn't want him to leave.

I murmured, "Hendrix. Monique left, and Ian doesn't want anything to do with me anymore. Am I really so bad that all of them left me?"

Hearing what I had said, Hendrix frowned and sat beside the bed, saying in a low voice, "Monique's death was an accident. No one wanted it to happen. As for Ian, he's engaged, and sooner or later, he'll have a family of his own. Besides, you have nothing to do with him changing so fast. Don't blame yourself for what happened to them."

He paused for a short while, held my hand tightly and said with a smile, "I'm always here, aren't I?"

I frowned as I still felt uneasy.

It wasn't easy for us to be together, but even my relationship with Ian, that had lasted for a few decades, was obliterated so easily. Could Hendrix and my relationship withstand all the challenges?

I didn't retort. After crying for so long, my eyes were sore. I stared at Hendrix for a while before falling asleep.

I had a long dream.

In my dream, Monique, Ian and I all returned to the time when we were still in high school. We stayed under the tree and watched the teenagers play with each other. Monique was the most fearless among us. She provoked their leader, while Ian went up to wrestle with them alone. He was so brave like a warrior that he didn't even complain the slightest although he was hurt from the fight.

I was puzzled. I put down the document and asked him, "Does this have anything to do with the financing of GW Group?"

Although Hendrix had analyzed the importance of the financing, I still felt that the risk was too great, so I held back.

Hendrix nodded and said, "It's not totally unrelated. Although I haven't agreed yet, there's no doubt that I'll help you decide on certain matters after you've signed the papers. But the most important thing is that the IVF will be settled within a few days time. It's not easy for us to have this child. I don't want you to be targeted by them until I know GW Group's real purpose. So not only will you need to withdraw as a shareholder of the Roberts Group, but you will also need to withdraw yourself from any position you have in this company."

Although Hendrix had his own considerations, the way he settled that was a little too demanding. He made me feel as if I was being replaced and stripped of all my power. I questioned, "Are you discussing with me, or are you informing me about your decision?"

"It can be either of them. Which one do you wish it to be?" Hendrix shrugged his shoulders, and he looked into my eyes with nothing to hide from me.
