After accompanying Hendrix for the meal, I returned home.
On the way, I called Freya and told her about Hendrix's thoughts in detail. Just like me, she was silent for a long time before saying one sentence.
"Arianna, your man is not the ordinary guy."
The corner of my lips curled up into a smile. That wasn't a secret. I replied, "Well, it's a known fact."
"I'm not flattering him," Freya said in a serious tone. "He's so bold and ambitious. Jarold City won't be enough for Hendrix. He's capable of going global."
I agreed. Just like when I first heard Hendrix saying those words in the office, I subconsciously looked up and admired him.
After a few more casual exchanges, Freya hung up the phone. However, looking out of the window, I still felt uneasy.
Those who wanted to deal with Roberts Group had settled down in Jarold City a few decades earlier than Hendrix. After so many years, they flourished and had their roots penetrated deep into the soil. It was easy for them to gain a firm foothold. Hendrix couldn't defeat them so easily.
There was one more thing Hendrix reminded me about.
I hadn't been involved in Roberts Group for a long time, so I seemed to have slacked off like a housewife who had nothing to do all the time.
It would be fine if I was a real housewife, but Minnie was already handling everything in the family. The biggest thing I did every day was to play with Anne and send dinner to Hendrix. I basically lived less diligently than a lackey running errands.
I was less than thirty years old. I couldn't always repeat my days like that in the following decades.
The previous year, when I was in the postgraduate entrance exam, I was delayed by all kinds of matters. I used to major in law. So far, I still had a deep impression of those review materials. Maybe it would not be so difficult to pick them up again.
I spent a week at home. As I took care of Anne, I bought the latest postgraduate entrance examination materials. I went to the study to revise them after Anne slept at night.
This day, I was about to start studying when I heard footsteps at the door. As soon as I looked up, I met Hendrix's eyes.
"Why are you back so early today?" I stood up to welcome him with a smile, unable to control my expression. I clung to Hendrix like a child.
It was only at that moment that I could finally understand why every time Anne would always look at me with surprise and anticipation on her face.
How could she not be delighted when she saw the person she loved in front of her?
Hendrix said, "Dr. Jules said that we can take the next step in IVF tomorrow. You have to go to bed early today to ensure your body is in tip- top condition."
