Perhaps it was because she had Ethan now. She knew that he would always clean up her mess for her, and she could now live a carefree life.
After trailing behind her for a while, I noticed the sky getting darker. I grew a little concerned and asked, "Yana, why don't we head back now?"
She turned back to look at me and said with a smile, "Ethan is still in the suburbs, and Oliver is away with Uncle Charles. It's boring to be back at home alone. Why don't we shop around for a little while more? My wedding is coming soon, and after that, my life will be completely different. Ethan will never let me stay out this late in the future."
Although she was complaining, her words were filled with her affection towards Ethan. I couldn't help but smile. Love was so powerful that it could change a person this much.
Following her, I took in the dark alleys around us and couldn't help asking, "Why are we walking in the alleys? Shouldn't we be shopping around in the malls?"
She turned around to face me, as she lifted a finger to her lips and gestured at me to keep my voice low. She said in a low voice, "Since a long time ago, I heard that many people would gather here at night. I wanted to take a look around to fulfill my curiosity."
I was so taken aback and confused as I asked, "Why are you curious about this? They are obviously outlaws, and people would normally stay away from them. Why are you interested in finding out more about them?"
With a grin, she said, "I started writing a few days ago, and I wanted to add a dark twist to my story. I saw some drug dealers before, but not to this extent. You know just how shady Jarold City can be, and it took me a lot of effort to find out about this place. I was hoping to get some ideas from here."
I was speechless to hear this. This woman was just...Fine then!
I noticed she was holding something in her hand and I was taken aback. "You..."
She lowered her head and glanced at the sealed bag in her hand. She started laughing in a sinister way. "What's wrong? Do you want to try this? It is amazing. Once you tried it, you will fall in love with it for the rest of your life."
I was so shocked that I took a step back. I gave her a look of disbelief and asked, "Don't tell me you were selling your body just to get this."
She pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes. Suddenly, she smiled and said, "So that was really you. When I saw you just now, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!" She then rubbed some of the powder in her palms and said, "Let's do this together, shall we? I've got more today, and I feel like sharing it with you, so you can have a try. What do you think?"
