John stared at me warily. "What do you want to do?"
I shrugged. "I'm just a woman. What can I do?" I glanced at the two men behind him. They brought him to the pool and shoved him into the water.
I watched idly as he struggled to keep afloat, his limbs still tied up and unable to move. I suddenly chuckled at this scene.
After a long time, he stopped splashing about in the water and started to gradually sink to the bottom of the pool. Evan, who was standing beside me, spoke. "Mrs. Roberts, he seems to be drowning."
"Alright, go and get him up. Bring a doctor over and nurse him back to consciousness. I want him to experience this a few more times, to make sure he never forgets."
Evan nodded and raised his hand, gesturing for someone to pull John up from the water.
After the show was over, I had no interest in continuing anymore. I got up to leave, but Hendrix followed and stood in front of me, asking, "Where are you going?"
I was a little tired. I thought about it and said,
"Let's rest here for the time being. It will be a while before John wakes up. I'm going to toy with him again."
He frowned slightly but didn't say anything.
All of a sudden, I caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. I was a little puzzled to see Susan here. Initially, I didn't plan to meet her here, but since she was already here, there was no point asking her to leave.
Sure enough, after a moment of silence, she resumed, "Miss Reid, regarding my sister, I am very grateful to you. I know that your daughter is waiting for her operation, and I heard that you had adopted my sister. I hope you can treat her well in the future, and I also hope that my sister will be helpful to you."
Seeing that she was not getting to the main topic, I frowned and pursed my lips. "Actually you can just get to the point, don't waste my time."
She was taken aback, then took a slight breath and suddenly knelt on the ground. She gazed up at me and said, "Miss Reid, I know I shouldn't bother you, but I have no other choice. I really have no one else to rely on except you."
"Get up and speak normally, you don't have to kneel!" I didn't like seeing other people kneeling down to beg for help. I wasn't that shameless.
She stood up from the ground and said, "After Mr. Roberts had cleared the place, I discovered that my friend had been taken away, probably sold. I've gone and asked for help from the police, but it was no use. They said that they couldn't find any record of him at all. But he had been working in the Emperor Club for so many years, why would there be no record of him?"
