Petrified, the two girls froze for a moment before walking out of the washroom with me, ignoring the knocking sounds coming from the cubicle.
After they walked out of the washroom, they high-fived each other excitedly. Then, they laughed their heads off. When they realized that I was still standing there, they composed themselves and kept a straight face. "Hi Mrs. Roberts."
I looked at them and asked with a smile, "Who’s in the cubicle?"
"It's... Miss Zanes!" they said while looking at me. They looked embarrassed and fearful at the same time. "Mrs. Roberts, are you going to..."
"Nah, I won’t," I said as I cracked a smile. "No worries. I won’t let the cat out of the bag. But please, don't do that again. It's not safe."
The girls smiled and nodded.
I had been at the washroom for quite a long time now, so I wanted to head back to Hendrix's office before he realized I had been gone for too long. I did not say anything further. Just when I turned around and was about to walk away, they stopped me and asked, "Mrs. Roberts, why didn't you ask why we played a trick on Miss Zanes?"
I thought for a moment and replied, "Well, I guess it's none of my business. Off you go to work now."
The two girls shared a glance and nodded. Then, they left.
Not long after that, I saw the cleaner going into the bathroom. I did not say anything. Instead, I headed straight towards Hendrix's office.
While I was making my way to Hendrix's office, I heard hurried footsteps coming from behind me. I turned around. It was Estella. Her clothes were drenched, and her delicate makeup had been washed away. Her hair was dripping wet, and she looked flustered.
As I saw her trotting over, I stopped and feigned surprise. "Miss Zanes, what happened?" I asked.
He nodded. He then took his keys before grabbing hold of me and leading me out of the office.
In the elevator, he suddenly bit my lips. "Don't ever meet Sebastian again without my permission," he said. "Otherwise, you will be in trouble."
I was speechless. Why hadn't he gotten over that issue yet? It had already been a while since it happened.
At the hospital.
It was dark by the time we arrived at the hospital. Fortunately, I had called up Valerie and informed her beforehand that I would be coming over to the hospital. She instructed the nanny to cook dinner for us and had the food sent to the hospital. We then had our meal there.
