Upon hearing this, Valerie nodded slightly and did not ask any more questions.
After a long day, I was really tired. When Valerie left my room, I washed up and went to bed. Anne slept in my arms and I found comfort from the warmth of her tiny body.
A child was all a mother needed. This was true. As long as I had Anne, I would be fine, despite all hardship.
I could feel the care and love from Valerie... If we hadn't had so many misunderstandings in the past, we would be such a wonderful family now, wouldn't we?
The next day...
In the gloomy Jarold City, the sun shone through the clouds and filled the bedroom with morning sun. It was warm and cheerful.
I woke up slightly out of breath and found Anne curled into a tiny ball sleeping on my chest. Her tiny mouth was heaving and she looked extremely adorable. The front of my shirt was slightly damp from her drool.
I looked at her pink face. She seemed to have grown a little chubbier recently. However, I could still make out the firm look on her features, which greatly resembled Josiah's.
"Knock knock!" There was a knock on the door, and I moved Anne to the bed.
After the last quarrel, I thought that we may take a long time to meet again. After all,I had said such offensive words to him, and it would be natural for him to be angry for a while.
An inner voice suddenly rang in my ears, "Arianna, you knew that no matter what you did, he would come back to pick you up. Hence, you said those words to hurt him so ruthlessly, because you knew that he would never leave. You just wanted to vent your anger on him. And you don't think that you're wrong?"
I was stunned by this revelation. I hadn't thought of reflecting on my own actions ever since our argument. I completely did not think of my erred ways, and perhaps I might even hurt him worse the next time...
The discussion and laughter downstairs came to an end. I came back to my senses. When I saw them looking up at me, Valerie was walking out of the kitchen with fruits in her hand. She looked at me and said, "You're awake! Mr. Roberts has been here for a while. Come down and have breakfast. I heard that the Aquarium in North City has opened. Anne has been looking forward to it for a long time. You both can take her there later, and she'd be thrilled."
