My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1042

Naomi saw me pointing at the glass and asked, "Do you want to drink water?"

I nodded. She reached out to take it, but someone else was quicker. We looked over and saw that it was Hendrix.

When Naomi saw him, she stared at me with an exceptionally mysterious smile, then got up and made way for Hendrix.

Hendrix sat down beside me and supported me up from the hospital bed. He let me lean against his shoulder, then he brought the glass of water to my mouth.

While I wondered at his gentleness, I was also very thirsty. Water was my priority.

When my throat felt more comfortable, I made to move away but he still held me in his arms and asked, "Do you want more?"

I shook my head and said, "Th... thank you!" My voice felt a little sore.

He pursed his lips and did not speak. He put the glass on the bedside table and glanced at Naomi and said, "Call for a doctor to examine her."

Naomi nodded and then quickly ran out of the ward.

I moved tried to escape from Hendrix's arms, but he didn't let me budge, not even an inch He ordered in a soft voice, "Stay!"

I frowned slightly and forced out through the pain in my throat. "Hendrix, I don't feel comfortable in this position."

He frowned slightly. Fortunately, he didn't argue. He just raised the bed and helped me lean me against it.

Naomi walked in with the doctor to examine me. After taking my temperature, the middle- aged doctor in a white coat confirmed, "Her fever is gone but there may be short- term fatigue. It's important to drink lots of water. Remember to take your medicine on time. You'll need a few more days of rest in the hospital before you can be discharged."

"Okay! Thank you, doctor!" Naomi said. After the doctor left, she looked at me and said, "Arianna, you're lucky you didn't die from this disaster. Your fever reached over 40 degrees, but your brain didn't suffer damage. It's really a miracle!"

I felt a little conflicted. I looked at him and said, "Hendrix, I've already recovered. Go and do your work!"

He pretended not to hear what I said and handed me an apple. "Eat the apple!"

I was speechless for a moment. After a minute, I said, "I will be discharged from the hospital today. Thank you for your care!"

He replied, "okay." As if he didn't take my words seriously at all. He looked at me and said, "During the summer holidays, Anne didn't want to go out at all. She wants to visit you!"

I looked at him, stunned for a moment. I didn't expect him to mention Anne. It's August now. Thinking carefully, I remembered that summer vacation had passed. I had promised that I would take her to Hovell, but I had forgotten about it because I had been so busy.

"How is she?" I asked guiltily, my voice not very loud.
