He was a guest! I wanted to stop him, but he gave me a serious look and my words dried up.
I put my head down and brought the dishes over to the sink to wash before I got further than opening the tap, I was pulled aside. "Stand there, I'll do it!"
Thus I watched as he hm clean up the kitchen with sure, slender fingers. Mesmerized, I felt nervous for some reason.
I wanted to help him, but before I could even take a step, he stopped me with his a warning gaze. So, awkwardly I stood there.
I cast about for a topic and decided on, "Why did you move here all of a sudden? Aren't you going back to Jarold City soon?"
He raised an eyebrow and looked at me with a sardonic gaze. "You don't like me being here?"
No, that's not it!
I shook my head. "There are many more things to do in Jarold City, and you seem to be done with all your projects here."
"And?" He lowered his head and skilfully washed the dishes.
He didn't seem to be in a chatty mood so I let him be.
I stood there silently and waited for him to finish up, then handed him a paper towel. He took it, wiped his hands, and without a thought, walked to the fridge.
Confused when I saw him rooting around in the fridge I asked him, "What are you looking for?"
"Eggs!"
"What do you need eggs for?"
He took out some brown sugar and looked at me faintly. "Don't you feel unwell?"
I was stunned that he noticed my discomfort, but didn't understand what he meant to do. I nodded my head and said, "A little. But what does it have to do with eggs?"
He pursed his lips and said faintly, "Go get changed your clothes. You do have spare clothes here?"
I blushed at the implication and felt embarrassed.
Back in the bedroom, I changed my clothes but realised belatedly that I didn't have a spare pad. And I was in such a hurry just now that I forgot to take my phone.
I sat on the toilet seat, anxiety eating me.
Knock knock! Someone was at the door. When I got up to open it, Naomi greeted me.
She handed me a pad, her smile full of meaning. "Both of you have quite the chemistry!"
I pursed my lips and then went into the washroom to change. I came out and saw her sitting by the bed side and asked, "What did you and Sebastian talk about in the backyard?"
"Talked about life, can you believe it?" She sighed. My question seemed to have made her unhappy.
I didn't continue asking said instead, "I know I said that I was going to move in with you but now it seems that I can't. I promised Sebastian that I would prepare his meals."
She nodded. "I know!"
