My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup novel Chapter 1881

Chapter 1881 Old Things

"Okay." Athena nodded lightly and said, "Mia is safe now. Go get some rest, okay?"

Ottilie glanced at the door of the ward, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded.

Athena watched Ottilie leave and was relieved.

Then she got up and entered the ward quietly.

Byron was sitting by the bed and turned his head immediately when he heard Athena come in.

Aiden had fallen asleep holding Mia's hand, and Mia was also asleep, frowning.

When Athena walked up to Byron, he instinctively reached out to hold her hand.

She looked at Byron and said, "You must be scared."

Tears welled up in Byron's eyes, and he said, "I'm sorry."

Athena sighed helplessly and said, "Why is everybody apologizing to me?"

"I should have found out earlier that Mia ran out." Byron said in a deep voice, "I... I'm so useless."

"Nobody could have known this would happen. Even if I were there, I wouldn't have been able to find out if she ran away during her afternoon nap." Athena said softly.

Actually, when Athena first discovered that Mia had sneaked out without security, she also blamed Byron for not knowing it.

Byron held Athena's hand tightly.

Athena continued, "My grandparents got up early and went to the market. They didn't realize I was gone until they came back from the market and wanted to wake me up."

While talking, Athena tilted her head and looked at Byron. "It was already afternoon when the administrator found me. He immediately called my grandfather. He told me his neighbor's child had been abducted a year ago. The child's parents blamed each other and then divorced. At the time, I was scared to death because I didn't want my grandpa and grandma to divorce."

"Then what?" Byron asked, "Did your grandparents punish you?"

"Yes!" Athena said, amused and embarrassed, "They both spanked me hard! But all I thought then was that they couldn't get divorced, so I didn't even try to dodge. But the truth was that they never blamed each other when they found I was missing, although they were both worried. Not only that, they were also showing great care for each other."

"They must love each other very much," Byron said, moved.

"Yes, very much." Athena said without hesitation, "When Grandpa was alive, he bought Grandma flowers every day. And they never blamed each other about any trivial matters at home."
