My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup novel Chapter 1700

Chapter 1700 You Are Quite Cheeky

Just like that, under Sally's persistent persuasion, Elijah agreed to her request to stay in the monastery and volunteer before heading to Northern Canakey.

There were many volunteers at the monastery.

When divided amongst everyone, there wasn't really much work to go around.

During their free time, Elijah would walk around the monastery grounds with Sally.

Although much had changed in the outside world over the past decade, the monastery remained largely the same, save for a few trees that had grown taller and some flowers that had been replaced.

After two days, Sally became familiar with the young monk she had initially met.

This young monk wasn't very disciplined, nor was he particularly reserved in his speech.

Sally bought him a popsicle, and while they were eating in the seldom-visited backyard, the young monk suddenly sighed, "Actually, the mentor really misses Elijah."

Sally's joy of eating the popsicle behind Elijah's back was immediately diminished by over half. "Who told you that?"

"When the mentor was severely ill before, Brad heard him mumbling Elijah's name in his delirium," The young monk sighed again.

"If that's the case, why won't he meet him?" Sally mused while nibbling on her popsicle.

"Adults' world is always filled with oddities we can't understand," The young monk said, shaking his head with wisdom beyond his years.

As Sally continued her popsicle, deep in thought, she asked, "Where does the mentor stay? I've been here for days and haven't seen him once."

The young monk became instantly wary. "Mrs. Patterson, are you planning to intrude into the mentor's chambers? You're quite daring!"

"Do I look like some audacious villain to you?" Sally responded, clearly exasperated.

The young monk looked at her suspiciously. "You were able to persuade Elijah to leave the monastery, weren't you?" He retorted.

Sally was genuinely shocked. Just as she was about to reply, her phone rang.

"Right now, you remind me of those husbands who sneak around to smoke, frantically putting out their cigarettes before their wives catch them."

Sally laughed, "You're quite cheeky, aren't you?"

That was right. Wasn't it just like what he said?

She quickly returned to find Elijah, leaving the young monk to continue his chores.

The young monk sat on the steps, slowly finishing his popsicle before picking up his broom and continuing to sweep.

Unbeknownst to both Sally and the young monk, an elderly monk was watching the whole popsicle-eating incident from the scripture tower opposite them.

The female visitor and the young monk had no idea that from the scripture building diagonally opposite, Brad was assisting the elderly monk and witnessed the entire process of the two sneaking popsicles.

"Father, this lady is Elijah's wife," Brad said, frowning, "She's been quite clumsy while volunteering here, breaking four plates. And now, she's secretly treating the young monk to popsicles! I must speak to Elijah about this!"
