"Don't say this. It's our job." Mike answered.
"Okay, just cut this. Mike, I will give you a day off. Just enjoy yourself. I will pay." Athena said.
"Thank you, Ms. Stella!"
Mike didn't refuse. He stood there straight and expressed his gratitude happily.
"We should go."
Athena gestured to Evie.
Evie nodded.
The two then got into the car.
Before starting the car...
Athena handed Evie Linda's personal profile.
"This should be the first victim. Her parents' contact information could be found there. Luckily, our school is kind enough and has been sending people to visit them. But we have lost contact with them for the last ten years. Hope that Linda can bless her parents. They must be alive!"
Evie took a deep breath. "I'll call them!"
"Okay."
Evie quickly dialed the number of Linda's father.
After two beeps, the call wasn't answered. It was said to be a vacant number.
Her heart immediately rose to her throat. Then she called Linda's mother.
After a few long seconds...
The phone went through.
Evie immediately and silently made a victory gesture.
"Hello, who's that speaking?"
An old voice came from the other end of the phone.
Athena and Evie breathed a sigh of relief.
One hour later.
In the suburban area of Girard City.
Athena and Evie followed the address and found a villa area where retired people usually lived.
"This place is very nice." Evie looked around.
The villas were located far away from each other.
"Tina?" Evie and Athena called the old woman.
The old woman turned around.
Seeing the two of them, she smiled, walked over, and opened the courtyard door, "I was afraid that you wouldn't find them, so I was planning to ask our housekeeper to pick you up."
Tina and her husband invited a housekeeper.
Tina and her husband were from the Mageport.
Their daughter died in Girard City. They were afraid that their daughter's soul couldn't pass the rivers and sea and go back home.
So, they chose to settle down here.
"Have some coffee."
Tina led Athena and Evie into the door.
Then she slowly made them coffee.
"You still remember Linda? I really didn't expect that someone would still remember Linda." Tina lowered her eyes. Mentioning her daughter, she still seemed sad. "You have something about her to ask me?"
"Tina, sorry for bringing up your sad past," Athena said gently.
Tina shook her head. "Everyone thought that I would be sad when talking about Linda. But I'm willing to talk to others about Linda. At least there is still someone who remembers her. It's better than letting her be forgotten by the world. I don't want her to exist only in my memory."

The readers' comments on the novel: My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
I am at Chapter 550 and there are almost 2 stories in 1. Aron and Evie's story could very well have been made into another story. Such a waste of time because I am reading for Byron and Athena, not Evie and Aron...
Is there no new updates after this one?...
