In the opulent hall, the atmosphere was heavy with excess and indulgence.
Everyone present seemed to lose themselves in the intoxicating atmosphere. At the center of the room, a dancer in a sheer, flowing gown twirled, her movements graceful and enchanting.
Someone had already grabbed the dancer, pulling away the thin fabric of her dress and indulging in their desires. No one dared to oppose them.
The extravagance, the indulgence, the complete disregard for humanity—this had become the norm.
Outside, just beyond the door, was a starkly different scene. Not three steps from the threshold, blood stained the ground, bright and shocking.
The musician who had refused to entertain had been cleaved in two by a sword.
The maids standing nearby didn't even glance up.
Their faces were blank, numb to everything around them. The music that echoed from the hall seemed to have no effect on them. It was as if they hadn't heard it at all.
Before long, a scream pierced the air. But the people outside didn't react.
Perhaps they had grown accustomed to such horrors. The scream was chilling, enough to raise goosebumps on the skin.
Minutes later, a woman's lifeless body was thrown outside, her neck snapped and eyes bulging in horror.
Her pale skin was marred with gruesome wounds, a sight that would make any normal person lose their composer in terror.
At that moment, a man pushed several young women dressed in coarse linen into the grand hall.
"Go on, hurry! If you're chosen, you'll never go hungry again." The words hit the young women like a death knell.
The young women trembled, their faces ashen with fear, but they had no choice but to walk forward.
When they saw the bodies scattered across the floor, their faces went even whiter, their fear palpable. They didn't dare look up, too terrified to speak as they were pushed further inside.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
