Vivian had brought a gift for Manfred—a beautifully crafted emerald pendant. She immediately began rummaging through her bag to find it.
She had bought it a while ago but had forgotten to give it to him during her last visit. It had remained tucked away, waiting for the right moment. Now, with the pendant in her possession and Manfred before her, it felt like the perfect time.
Of course, now that Manfred had become the head of the Atkinson family, he could have anything he desired, and there was nothing he truly lacked.
However, when she first saw this emerald pendant, Vivian felt it was perfect for him. The emerald was pure and smooth, and its soft glow would undoubtedly add to his refined and handsome image.
Manfred had always been someone of remarkable charm and elegance.
"Do you like it?" Vivian watched Manfred with some anticipation, waiting for his reaction.
"I do," Manfred replied, his eyes filled with surprise and appreciation. The emerald pendant felt like an irreplaceable treasure to him.
Vivian saw how much Manfred liked the emerald pendant, and she eagerly explained why she had chosen it. "I honestly believe no one could wear this pendant better than you. On you, it shines with effortless grace, like it was made just for you. Anyone else would only diminish its charm."
"Look here," she added, pointing to a tiny engraving along the edge, "I had a small symbol carved—a charm for your safety, my blessing to you. Manfred, I hope you find everything you desire in life and remain safe, always."
Manfred's eyes glistened as he listened to her. He met her gaze, seeing the genuine emotion and the spark within. A silent vow formed in his heart. "She's the only one for me. Even fleeting glimpses of her are treasures I'll hold dear."
Only her.
…
The carriage soon arrived at the Atkinson residence. Baz brought it to a smooth halt, and Manfred stepped out first. Turning back, he extended his hand to Vivian.
She could've easily managed on her own, but as she met his expectant gaze, she found herself unable to refuse. Slipping her hand into his, she stepped down gracefully.
Was Manfred slipping again? Alger had warned that it was uncertain whether Manfred had truly recovered—or if he had simply buried the darker parts of himself. Something must've stirred today—something that perhaps had brought those shadows back.
With that thought in mind, he quickly turned to the maid before him and ordered, "Keep an eye on Mr. Atkinson. Watch his every move, but don't make it obvious. I'll step out for a moment."
"Understood."
…
Vivian had eaten two large bowls of food. She felt quite full.
She couldn't deny it—the chef at the Atkinson residence was exceptional. Time had only sharpened their skills, and tonight's dishes were unlike any she'd tasted before.
"This is delicious," she said.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
