Something seemed off now.
"It's so cold…"
The two maids, Fern Alvarado and Virginia Steele were curled up tightly, trembling from the cold and still a bit disoriented. Vivian hadn't held back earlier.
The household staff exchanged uneasy glances.
Without hesitation, they stripped off their coats and draped them over the women. Lifting the two effortlessly, they carried them straight to Zea's room.
At that moment, Zea was deep in slumber.
Even in her dreams, she envisioned Manfred as a cripple. Just as everything seemed to be unfolding exactly as she had envisioned, Rhea Robertson abruptly woke her up.
Half-asleep and still groggy, she slowly grasped the situation that had just occurred.
As her eyes fell on the two stunning women kneeling on the ground before her, fury surged through her, and her temples began to throb violently.
"You two were trained from a young age to cater to men, and yet you couldn't handle a clueless young man who's never even been with a woman? How is it possible that he knocked you out and tossed you out?
She thought, "Manfred isn't even of age!"
For years, he had been confined to the mansion, treated no better than a stray dog. He couldn't possibly have any knowledge of women, let alone much self-control.
And yet, he had managed to resist the allure of two stunningly beautiful women like them. It was almost unbelievable.
Fern and Virginia, still groggy when they had been carried back, were now wide awake and trembling with fear.
"We… We tried everything, Mrs. Atkinson. We used every trick to entice Mr. Manfred, but he remained completely indifferent. Could it be… Could it be that there was something wrong with the potion?"
"Yes! That drug has never failed before. No man can resist it. Or... Or maybe Mr. Manfred already has feelings for someone. He kept calling us Vivian. Yes, it was Vivian. If he's already in love, that would explain why he was immune to our attempts."
Zea laughed, the sound bitter and sharp as if she had just heard the most absurd joke. "Vivian? He's locked away in that courtyard day in and day out. He's barely even seen other women! Vivian? I've never even heard of anyone near him by that name."
It was beyond reason.
Rhea whispered cautiously, "Mrs. Atkinson, Mr. Manfred has shown remarkable self-restraint over the years. Even when starved for days, he never once knelt before you to beg for a meal. Perhaps they are telling the truth. I think it would be wise to investigate this Vivian they mentioned. Someone in the mansion might have secretly approached Mr. Manfred without your knowledge."
Zea's mind cleared. Thinking it over, it made sense.
Her expression hardened as she looked at Fern and Virginia. "You two may leave for now. Tonight's events are not to leave this room."
"Yes, Mrs. Atkinson."
They bowed deeply before retreating.
Once they were alone, Zea turned back to Rhea. "We've treated Manfred like a dog for years, yet he has such willpower. I'm beginning to regret keeping him around this long.
"Now Randall wants to start showing him to the public, and I can't sit back and let it happen. Find out who's been meeting with him behind my back. If he's still so defiant, someone must be feeding his rebellion," Zea demanded.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
