Alina knew the villa was meant to be Harvey's and her wedding home.
Therefore, when she discussed the design style with the architect, she made sure to suggest her preferences based on her preferences.
Today, as she passed by the area, she thought she would stop by and check on the progress. However, she was surprised to find that work had stopped.
When she asked, she learned that they were changing the design style. This caught her off guard.
Harvey chuckled lightly.
Alina was confused when Harvey laughed. "What's going on?" she asked.
Harvey stopped laughing and coldly responded, "Is there anything else you'd like to tell me?"
Alina didn't understand his question. She simply said, "I… How about I come over tomorrow and cook your dinner? I'm worried you've been too tired lately and haven't been taking care of yourself."
Her words of concern sounded just like before, showing no sign of any wrongdoing. However, Harvey had learned a few things about Alina in recent days.
He had once trusted her completely. She was the cousin of his business partner, and although he had heard of her past relationship, he hadn't paid much attention.
He didn't care whether she had liked someone else before, but it bothered him that she continued to be involved with her ex-boyfriend while with him.
"No need," Harvey said coldly after a brief pause.
Alina was taken aback. "Harvey, have you been overworking yourself lately? Or is something else going on? If something's bothering you, you can tell me. I might not be of help, but I can face it with you."
Women like Alina, who appeared so understanding, could easily make one lose oneself. Unfortunately, it was too late.
"I'm tired. I'm going to rest," Harvey said before ending the call.
Alina rubbed her temples, a dull headache creeping in on her.
She thought back to Harvey's attitude just now. A sense of unease gripped her heart.
…
On Monday, in the HR Department of Martin Group, Priscilla looked at the HR manager before her, her face pale.
Gone was the usual lighthearted atmosphere that had accompanied their past encounters.
Normally, when colleagues saw each other, there would be jokes and laughter. After work, many would even hang out together.
They always seemed to have a strong bond, chatting about all sorts of things. But now, the HR manager, Alanna Stephenson, looked grim and serious. It was almost like she was looking at a stranger.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
