Suddenly, she remembered her best friend's words. "We don't have the luxury of making mistakes anymore. Honestly, Harvey is truly one in a million. If you break up with him, you'll regret it later.
"Your parents will think you're crazy. I'm always jealous of you. How could you be so lucky to meet such a wonderful man?"
Harvey was that good.
He was so perfect that everyone said if they broke up, she would be the one regretting it. Yet, there was still some lingering resentment in her heart.
When she was with Theodore, they were each other's first love. Their love was deep, passionate, and intense. She wondered how he could fall for someone else after just a few years, despite the promises of forever he had made to her.
Maybe it was true that lovers shared a special connection because Theodore sent another message just then.
"Don't ignore me, Alina. Do you remember the promises we made to each other when we were together? I love you, Alina. I will never love anyone the way I love you. Being with you was the happiest time of my life.
"Everyone else is just a compromise to live up to the expectations of others. But when I met you again, I realized I couldn't keep lying to myself. I couldn't live just to please my family. I've broken up with her, and the wedding has been called off."
Reading this message, Alina's hand trembled as she held her phone. He had broken up with her. So…
Just then, Harvey's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Can't sleep?"
Alina, startled by the sudden question, looked up at Harvey. He glanced at her trembling hand before waiting for her response.
Noticing his gaze, Alina quickly locked her phone. She felt guilty. Still, she continued to lie. "Maybe I ate too much for dinner and it's not settling well."
"We have digestive aid at home," Harvey said as he walked over to look for the medicine box.
The apartment was small, a two-bedroom unit in a compact layout. She was surprised to see Theodore standing by her door as she walked out of the elevator. Before she could react, he quickly crossed the distance and embraced her, kissing her deeply.
They didn't part for a couple of minutes, still caught in the passion of their kiss, when suddenly, the elevator opened again. Someone was coming out.
The sound startled them both. They looked up to see the person stepping out of the elevator.
At this time, it was unusual for anyone to be coming up, but…
"Oh, sorry. Please, go ahead. Someone reported a noise disturbance in this building, so I'm just checking every floor."
The security guard quickly realized what had happened and turned his gaze away. Then, he hurriedly pressed the elevator button, entered the elevator and left.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
