Skylar's feelings toward Kevin had always been complicated.
She admired his skills but disagreed with many of his methods—he was too extreme, and his actions had harmed many people over the years.
Now, years later, his deeds had brought her yet another challenge.
Raven abruptly stood up. "I have things to do. I'm leaving."
She had underestimated Skylar.
She shouldn't have come to meet her so recklessly. She should have waited until Joe regained his memories of her. Then only she would have the right to confront Skylar directly.
Her manipulation of Elsie to get close to Joe was all to make him remember her.
For years, it wasn't only Skylar who occupied her mind—there was also Joe.
Raven had fallen in love with this man unconsciously. The more she read about him online, the more deeply she was drawn in.
That was why she hated Skylar.
The person standing next to Joe should have been her.
She was Maisy.
She had two outstanding brothers who did well in their respective fields, a younger brother, and a mother who had married into a wealthy family.
All she needed was to return to their side, and everything would fall into place.
But first, Skylar—the obstacle in her path—had to be removed.
"You're not Maisy. You're just Raven," Skylar said as she stood up, her icy gaze piercing through Raven.
It was as though Skylar could see right through her.
Raven's body trembled violently, and her face turned pale as the blood drained from it.
"Every bead on your bracelet is filthy. When you touch them, there isn't a single moment when your mind is focused on kindness. You've become its slave," Skylar replied.
Skylar wasn't saying this to scare Raven or to exaggerate the situation.
She could handle most negative items, but this bracelet was beyond her ability. The only thing she could do was ensure Raven would no longer have the chance to use it to harm others.
From now on, the bracelet could only harm Raven herself.
When Raven heard the word slave, her face turned even paler, and the hand that Skylar had grabbed trembled uncontrollably.
Skylar picked up her bag and walked out without looking back.
Raven stood there, stunned, staring at Skylar as she left.
Was it her imagination, or had… She suddenly felt that she wasn't Maisy. She was just Raven.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
