Elsie spoke quickly, fearing that if she took too long, Joe would lose patience and stop listening.
She knew all too well how unbelievable her words sounded. Someone like Joe would hardly be inclined to take them seriously.
After all, it sounded absurd, like the plot of some novel.
The driver, meanwhile, was utterly dumbfounded, staring at her as if she had lost her mind.
At first, he hadn't thought much of it, but now he noticed that this young woman bore a slight resemblance to Skylar. Could it be that she was banking on this resemblance to stir up trouble between Joe and Skylar in a bid to replace her?
The tactic seemed far-fetched and clumsy. But why wasn't Joe saying anything?
Tears streamed down Elsie's face as if the whole world had wronged her. "I didn't want to disturb you, but just this morning, I suddenly regained memories from my previous life. The person who stole my life was Skylar."
She had never understood why Joe had always ignored her.
Sometimes, she even felt that he should have liked her. Although he seemed unattainable, and they were from completely different worlds, deep down, she felt that she was meant to be his one and only.
Despite being fragile and inexperienced, she believed herself to be the delicate flower he would cherish. But in the end, Skylar took everything away from her.
If Skylar hadn't been reborn and gotten her revenge ahead of time—if she hadn't met Joe, married him, and secured her position—then Elsie's struggles would have already been resolved.
To Elsie, Joe was her savior, her hero, the person who had rescued her from despair.
In her previous life, she had even felt unworthy of being with him and tried to avoid him, but he had insisted on having her, taking her by force and binding her to his side. She couldn't escape.
But then, there was the car accident. It was the accident that she was sent back to this year—the year she met Joe.
Yet, a voice inside her insisted that Joe had fallen for her at first sight in his heart—that he loved her deeply and would never harm her.
His cold attitude now must be Skylar's fault.
She had once thought Skylar was incredibly lucky to marry Joe and had a great career.
But after regaining her past-life memories, she realized Skylar was cheating. Skylar changed Joe's marriage and then used him to advance her career and achieve her goals.
Skylar was wicked, selfish, and calculating!
Unable to hold back her overwhelming sense of injustice, Elsie sobbed, "Why don't you believe me? Every single word I just said is true! If I lie to you, I'll die a horrible death and become nothing more than Mr. Rowe's plaything forever!"

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
