After all, being young, Maxine couldn't hide her emotions. Skylar nodded again and said, "I've read a bit about it, and I understand some of it."
That was probably the response Maxine had been waiting for these past few days—someone who could believe her.
She couldn't hold back anymore. With tears streaming down her face, she cried out. "I've been in a haze these past few days. I've tried calming myself down, but I simply couldn't. I can't understand how Emerson, who was my husband, could become Minerva's husband.
"They even have a child now, and I saw the child. He's so cute. I don't want to destroy anyone's family, but… I just can't accept this."
Skylar took a couple of steps toward Maxine. Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly stopped, her brows furrowing slightly.
Her gaze fell to Maxine's wrist. Maxine was wearing a gold bracelet with a vial-shaped emerald pendant.
"Did you buy this bracelet yourself, or was it a gift?" Skylar's voice lowered.
Maxine, her eyelashes still damp with tears, followed Skylar's gaze down to her wrist. Lost in thought, she said, "It was a gift from a friend a few days ago. It was my birthday then, and my fans sent me many gifts. I don't know what it was, but I really liked this bracelet the moment I saw it.
"It's not a high-end brand, but I loved it, so I started wearing it. It even matched the character I'm playing in this show, so the director didn't ask me to take it off."
After speaking, she noticed Skylar's expression had turned serious.
Maxine quickly added, "The friend who gave it to me wasn't Emerson. It was someone else."
The color was beautiful, and the stone was clear. When worn on the wrist, it contrasted perfectly with the pale skin.
However, turning it over, Skylar noticed something odd. The gold setting around the emerald had a slightly different texture. The intricate designs seemed to twist and weave in unexpected ways.
Upon closer inspection, she noticed that the color of the gold itself was slightly uneven.
"Do you like this bracelet? Let me check with my friend and see where it was bought. I'll buy a new one for you."
Maxine didn't know why, but she wasn't a particularly stingy person. A bracelet was nothing, and it wouldn't hurt to gift it to someone who appreciated it.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
