Charles thought for a moment. "Alright, I'll tell them."
He then added, "I just have this feeling that he won't go away. I should probably inform Steven and Harvey as well, so everyone is prepared."
After ending the call with Charles, Skylar turned to find Joe watching her.
"Finn is coming back to Jipsburg. He wants to bother Mom again," Skylar said, furrowing her brow.
She didn't have many memories of Finn. When she was younger, Steven had told her bits and pieces about him. Back then, she'd imagined Finn as a good father who had simply been lost to an accident. But now, knowing the truth, she saw him for what he was—selfish.
It was clear Finn had no intention of letting Janine live in peace.
Joe's gaze darkened. "There's no need to worry about someone like that. He won't be coming back."
Skylar raised an eyebrow. "Won't be coming back?"
Joe nodded firmly. "Your mom is my family too. If someone wants to ruin her happiness, they'll have to go through me first. I let him slip away a few months ago, but this time, I won't. Don't worry—I won't let things get out of hand, especially since he's still Steven's and the others' biological father.
Skylar understood immediately, and a sense of relief washed over her. She looked at Joe, her eyes shining with gratitude.
Joe pinched Skylar's nose gently. "Your period isn't over yet. Don't look at me like that."
The mention of her period made Skylar's face flush. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Joe smirked playfully. "Do you really not understand, or are you just pretending?" he thought to himself.
Skylar silently counted the days in her head. Two more days, and it would be over. Their brief abstinence would soon come to an end.
…
Charles had been busy filming over the past few days.
Finn's voice shook with rage. To him, he'd make one mistake in life—leaving them. Now that he wanted to return and make amends, Charles refused to accept him.
It appeared that Charles was relishing the prospect of his demise.
Charles rolled his eyes in disbelief. "Where were you all these years? If you wanted to play the part of a father, you shouldn't have faked your death. And by the way, you're legally dead. Your name's been struck off the family register. Your new identity? It's a sham. You're not even a citizen here.
"I had someone look into it. Your so-called 'overseas returnee' status is fabricated. You're nothing but a fraud. Stay in Murida and reflect on your life—or don't. I don't care."
"What did you say? How dare you say that? Even if I changed my identity, I'm still your father. No one can change that! You're not afraid I'll expose you to the media?" Finn's voice crackled with anger and desperation as he threatened Charles.
Charles snorted. "Expose me? Go ahead. You probably don't know this, but everyone in Jipsburg already knows about you and Miriam. Actually, scratch that—everyone in the country knows about it. Everyone knows that I have a father who faked his death. If you want to turn this into a scandal, be my guest. I'll thank you in advance!"
"You… You…!" Finn stammered, his words failing him.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
