Steven looked at Finn, his face flushed with anger, his expression darkening with fury. Having a father like Finn was humiliating.
"What possible consequences could there be?" he sneered.
Finn's face fell at the question. For some reason, guilt gnawed at him, and a strange unease crept in. A part of him sensed that if he continued to push Steven, he might live to regret it.
But there was no time to dwell on those thoughts. He couldn't afford to waste any more energy playing games with Steven and the others.
Whether it was Janine, Steven, or the others, they all seemed so cruel-hearted. He had told them that his daughter was ill and needed their help, but every one of them just stood by and did nothing.
After taking a deep breath, Finn gritted his teeth and said, "I don't want things to get worse between us. All I'm asking is for you, as brothers, to step up and protect your sister right now.
"But you're all so heartless. The way you're acting now, you will definitely regret it later! You've brought this upon yourselves!"
"Nice speech! That's exactly what should be said to you. Abandoning your wife and children to raise a kid with your mistress—you're the one who's guilty of all this, and it's no wonder your daughter's sick."
With that, Steven turned around and walked straight back to the company building, not bothering to waste any more words on Finn. Finn stared, fuming with anger as Steven walked away without a second thought.
He gritted his teeth. "If I'd known you were this cold-hearted, I never should have had you with Janine!"
He was furious, blaming everything on how Janine had raised Steven.
Before reaching out to them, Finn had a pang of guilt toward Janine and the kids. After all, he had neglected them for 20 years. But now, thinking about his daughter's condition, he realized just how heartless they all were.
He had given them money and property as compensation, yet they acted as though it meant nothing, clinging to the past instead of moving forward.
After a moment of silence, Finn finally made up his mind and dialed a number. "Alright, I agree. Let's do it your way. My daughter can't wait any longer."
…
For the next three days, Finn didn't show up in front of Steven or the others. Steven paid no mind to Finn's sudden disappearance.
Joe looked up as she approached.
"I've got some information from Murida. Finn's daughter, the one he had with the mistress, is suffering from kidney failure and needs a kidney transplant. Finn approached Steven and the others—not for their bone marrow, but for their kidneys."
When Joe spoke these words, his face darkened.
"Kidney transplant?" Skylar's face shifted with shock. She hadn't expected Finn to be so audacious as to ask Steven and the others for their kidneys.
"Yes. They've been searching everywhere for a suitable kidney, but none have matched. So, they turned to Steven and the others." Joe seemed disgusted by Finn's shamelessness.
As a father, Finn's lack of responsibility was one thing, but this was truly below any decent boundary.
Skylar sat down and took a moment to collect herself, trying to calm her emotions. "He actually thinks he has the right to ask for their kidneys? Who does he think he is?"

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
