Harvey was the type of person who wouldn't yield to pressure—well, not entirely. It depended on who was applying it.
He gave a faint, mocking smile. "I told you, if you have something to say, just say it directly. Don't try to reminisce. There's nothing for us to talk about."
Finn was at his limit with Harvey. However, he had mentally prepared himself for this. Within a few breaths, he managed to calm down.
"I did come to find you for something. Now, only you can help me." Finn sighed heavily.
After speaking, he seemed to age a few years in an instant, his worn expression making it hard not to feel some sympathy.
Harvey shot him a sharp glance, seeing through the act. He had always thought he was good at pretending. "Help you? What could we possibly help you with?"
"It's just a small thing. First, just tell me if you can do it for me. For example, if I asked you to donate blood, would you help me?" Finn asked, his eyes fixed intently on Harvey.
Harvey raised an eyebrow. "Donate blood?"
He sized Finn up. "Let me guess because you've done so many awful things in the past, now you've gotten some terrible disease like leukemia, and you need one of us to donate bone marrow, right?"
Finn's eyes flickered nervously at the suggestion, and he avoided making much eye contact with Harvey. "No, I'm not sick. Just an example."
"No," Harvey answered decisively.
A father who had disappeared for years, failing to fulfill even the most basic responsibilities of parenthood, was now asking him to overlook the past. Harvey wasn't a saint.
Watching Harvey leave without hesitation, Finn was struck by the realization that his children hadn't thought of him as their father at all. To them, he was just an enemy. He slammed his hand down on the steering wheel in frustration.
Just then, his phone rang.
When he saw who was calling, Finn quickly composed himself and erased the anger from his face.
He answered the call.
"How did it go? Did any of them agree?" The woman on the other end of the line spoke with a weak voice, clearly inquiring about the outcome.
Finn watched Harvey walk into the hotel ahead of him, letting out a deep sigh. "It's been so many years since we've seen each other. It's difficult for them to accept me now and agree to help."

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
