Simona suddenly felt a surge of anger. "Stephen, you're so annoying! You're such a nuisance!"
"Simona!" Stephen exclaimed in shock. What was going on with her?
Simona stopped in her tracks, her gaze fixed on him in confusion. For a brief moment, she couldn't understand why she was seeing him. Weren't they supposed to be over?
Then it hit her—they had patched things up. But still…
The thought nagged at her—how had she managed to convince herself that Stephen was innocent in all of this?
"Stephen, stay away from me. These past few days, I must have been blinded. How could I have gotten back together with you? Don't come after me anymore. I don't want to see you," Simona said.
The words tumbled out before she could stop them, a surge of pent-up emotions spilling free. But as soon as she finished, she felt lighter, as though a suffocating weight had been lifted from her chest.
She could no longer deny the truth—Stephen was a liar.
Stephen stood frozen in disbelief. Something wasn't right. Simona seemed completely different—her rejection was palpable, her eyes filled with disdain, just as they had been during their breakup.
"Simona? What's happening? Is it because I made the plans without asking you first? Or because I insisted on this trip? If it's about that, we can talk. I never meant to upset you," Stephen stammered, his voice faltering.
Simona looked at him, her gaze hardening. But as his humble demeanor sank in, a sharp pain shot through her head, and two opposing voices in her mind began to clash.
Just then, someone called out to her.
"Simona."
…
The next morning, Skylar woke up with the lingering effects of a hangover. She felt weak, her head pounding.
Natalie was still sleeping on the couch.
The two of them had spent the night laughing and crying over drinks until they eventually passed out. Skylar managed to drag herself out of bed, took a few sips of water, and went to grab her phone.
Natalie's place was nearly out of everything. There wasn't even a single grain of pasta to make a meal, so Skylar had no choice but to look up some food delivery options on her phone.
But when she unlocked her phone, she saw a message that instantly sobered her up.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
