Howard and Jacky exchanged glances, understanding the implication. Howard, being a doctor, could infer the gravity of the situation.

“Let’s go. It’s too noisy here. You must be tired from the flight. Let’s get in the car and rest for a bit,” Skylar said gently. 

Paul stared at her earnestly and slowly nodded in response.

If it were anyone else mistaking him for Joe, he would have felt some annoyance. Yet, for some reason, seeing this woman view him as Joe only deepened his pain. 

He even felt an impulse to embrace her. 

Just then, a voice abruptly cut in, pulling Skylar back to reality. “What are you two doing? Ned, what’s going on?”
