Joe called Skylar about ten minutes after she left the hospital. 

He told her he had something to attend to that evening and wasn’t sure when he would return, so she should go to bed first.

Before going to bed, Skylar chatted with Natalie a bit. 

Natalie had stayed at the hospital for over an hour before taking a cab home. Jeremy had already woken up when she left, although he was very weak. He had fallen back to sleep after saying a few words to them.

Maybe she had been thinking too much lately, given everything that had happened, and it had followed her into her sleep.

She unlocked her phone and saw a message from Joe on WhatsApp. 

“There’s an issue with the overseas collaboration. I need to catch a flight immediately to deak with it in person. I’ll be back in three days. Don’t worry, and wait for me.” 

The message had been sent about an hour ago. Skylar had already fallen asleep three hours ago.
