My Exchanged Mate novel Chapter 36

Chapter26

I took the information that we had gathered about the silver shadow pack and put it in the filing cabinet and took out the file with the requests for help from other packs.

Lately we had been getting lots of those especially smaller packs asking for training some had even gone to the level of demanding that I send my warriors to protect them.

You would think that they would ask the council first but the council had been struggling with their own attacks from hunters and rouges and had a limited amount of packs that they could help.

I sat down with Drew to discuss a problem with a pack that was that was 10 miles away that did not have more than 50 members that was being attacked when Drew brought up a different topic altogether.

“Who do you think Kevin’s real parents are?” he asked looking into my eyes.

I was shocked at his abrupt question but answered it nevertheless.

“I’m not sure Drew but I do think that he has either a third in command or beta blood in him.” I answered my mind drifting

off.

“What????” Drew screamed.

“Yes I feel the power in his blood I think if an alpha was his father he would have already come forward so he doesn’t have alpha blood but it is strong so I think he has beta ancestors”.

Drew looked shocked at this revelation but it had been something I had known for a while I thought that they could all

sense the hidden power in him.

“So why do you think you reacted to Kevin in such a way” Drew questioned.

“I guess it was his wolf calling out to mine, I could feel his loneliness and despair it’s like what I went through as a child in my old pack I had no one. So I guess my wolf felt a connection to him somehow and due to this connection it was hard for me a Kevin not to recognise it.” I took a breath not really paying attention to anything as I continued talking.

“I guess I became a sort of surrogate mother for Kevin and him my son” I sighed not knowing things were really annoying.

I looked to see that Mick had returned without me realising I had been so into my own thoughts I had not heard him re-enter my office. I looked at them both know and voiced my hidden thoughts.

“But no matter if I feel these things I can’t help but think that there is a bigger reason to why my wolf and I care so much for him I’m just glad he’s not that stupid alphas son” I said.

I saw both Mick and Drew look at one another in slight shock then Mick directed an unsuspected question at me.

“I find it weird that you can so casually talk about your mate in such a disrespectful way” he said confused.

“What you think he deserves better” I asked with raised eyebrows.

Hell no he doesn’t that arse was lucky we didn’t call him worse and rip his throat out.

I totally agree with my wolf she was perfect at summarising our feelings towards him.

“No I didn’t mean it like that it’s just he’s your mate and normally mates can never say a bad word to each other without them feeling guilty or submitting to the male” Mick replied his face looking as if he was trying to solve a puzzle.

“Well I feel nothing towards him me and my wolf feel nothing but distaste at the thought of him” I growled.

Drew who had been sitting quietly looked up at me trying to get the information he needed from my eyes to see if I was

telling the truth.

“You and your wolf both have rejected him?” Drew asked.

“Yes “I replied without hesitation for it is the truth.

“There are cases of mates who have been rejected but they lost their minds and killed themselves because their wolves

couldn’t face it, but others very few live on because there wolves don’t take the rejection as expected” Drew paused

looking at me.

“I think because both you and your wolf rejected Kellan as your soul mate it dissolved the connection between you, your

wolf did not think he was good enough to be your mate” I couldn’t help but feel shocked at this but I understood me and

my wolf were not pushovers.

I couldn’t help but think that maybe this meant that I could meet someone someday but who knew if we would live till

then I could still feel as if something terrible was going to happen

“Okay let’s stop that conversation and get back to work Drew what’s the next pack that has asked for our help” I asked

trying to get something productive done.

All of a sudden Drew gasped in shock I looked at him in confusion.

“What’s wrong Drew tell me” I said worried about what had made the colour in Drew skin disappear he was as white as a
