My Exchanged Mate novel Chapter 2

Chapter 2

That same afternoon, I scheduled the abortion and bought a plane ticket, set to leave exactly seven days later.

It was the same day as the mating ceremony.

There were seven days left. That was enough time to get everything ready.

Since they planned to humiliate me by revealing the truth at the mating ceremony, then I’d be the one to expose their disgusting true colors, to rip off the mask of that bastard’s twisted game.

Over the years, I’d received quite a bit of money from Damien for being his secret lover.

Especially in the past year, my bank account balance had nearly doubled.

There were several months when I received two separate transfers.

At the time, I’d wondered why Damien would send money twice.

Now I knew, it wasn’t just him. Damien transferred one payment, and his twin brother, Ryan, sent another.

Looking at the satisfying numbers on my bank balance, I couldn’t help but laugh.

I first got involved with Damien when I was in university.

Ella was my roommate. Her family was wealthy, she was beautiful, and plenty of people fawned over her.

But she had a twisted hobby, pranks.

All kinds of pranks.

Some were petty, like tearing up a classmate’s homework and blaming it on someone else. Others were cruel, she once pushed an ordinary girl to suicide, just because she didn’t like the fact they wore the same dress.

She chose her targets based on mood alone.

I happened to share the same dorm room with her. I was lucky. I flew under her radar.

Because I kept to myself, quiet and invisible. I left the dorm before sunrise for class and didn’t return from the library until

the last second before the dorm doors locked at night.

In the dorm, I never made a sound. I was like a rat living in the shadows.

It wasn’t until two years later, after I won a major competition that she realized I was her roommate.

That award ceremony, Damien and I stood on the podium together. Just because a girl beside Ella whispered, “Wow, they look perfect together,” I became her next target for her twisted pranks.

She shredded my clothes. I wore the same outfit for a week.

She locked the dorm door before I came back in the evening. I slept in the hallway outside the door.

She threw all my belongings out of the room. I gathered them up and moved into the janitor’s storage room downstairs.

I really did become that rat, but she couldn’t break me.

That infuriated her.

So Ella came up with a new prank to get at me.

She contacted the restaurant I worked part-time at and got me fired. Then she found my sick mother and used her to

threaten me.

She cornered me, backed me into a wall.

Then, like some twisted fairy tale, she sent Damien to “rescue” me, just like a prince saving Cinderella.

And she succeeded.

Unti then had I managed to survive all her other cruel tricks, but I couldn’t resist a single word Damien said.

I had feelings for Damien secretly. As I entered college, the moment I first saw him, I fell for him.

Damien was the youngest Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack, and he was the most famous figure at Eastridge University.

He was handsome, rich, powerful, and he was every she-wolf’s dream.

So, as part of Ella’s prank, Damien confessed his love to me and made me his girlfriend.

According to Ella’s plan, he’d spoil me rotten with money, make me get used to it, then dump me, leaving me shattered by

the huge disappointment.

And Damien really did treat me well.

He showered me with endless gifts, showed concern for my difficult upbringing, and forbade me from working. He

surprised me in different ways every day.

Thankfully, growing up poor had trained me in frugality. I never forgot how to save.
