My Birthday, My Downfall novel Chapter 87

The scariest thing is mistaking his fleeting excitement for something real—while you hand over your entire heart.

That's how you end up completely ruined, Hannah!

She was right.

He had been momentarily intrigued.

I had lost everything.

How foolish of me to think I could ever hold on to him.

To forget the most fundamental truth"

Playboys don't do forever.

"Oh, so it's the ex-girlfriend."

In the elevator, the woman in Sean's arms let out a deliberately provocative gasp.

"Elevator play? How thrilling.

"Sean, I can't believe you actually let go of such a wild older sister?"

Sean's dark eyes locked onto me. He pulled the woman in his arms even closer, the corners of his lips curving into a mocking smirk.

"Just a dead fish. No matter how much it flops around, it's still lifeless."

The color drained from my face in an instant.

For someone like me, who always fumbles for words, I found myself at a complete loss against Sean's unabashed vulgarity.

I clenched my fists. If I couldn't outargue him, maybe I should just slap him across the face?

But before I could act, an arm wrapped around my shoulder, pulling me into a firm, warm embrace.

The man who had been silently standing beside me all this time held me close and leaned down to whisper near my ear, his tone intimate"

"Do you need me to hold you?"

I took a sharp breath, swallowing down the frustration. I was just about to refuse—

But from behind, Sean's deep, displeased voice interrupted"

"You two."

"Tonight's hotel stay is on me."

The man beside me tightened his hold and turned his head, raising an eyebrow at Sean.

There was a faint smile on his lips, but a clear challenge in his eyes.

"Oh?"

Sean ignored him, his gaze fixed solely on me, dark and unreadable.

"Hannah followed me for three years. Since you two are staying at my hotel tonight, it's only right that I show a little courtesy.

"I'll have someone send over a few… toys.

"After all, with Hannah's stiff, lifeless technique, I doubt things will be very… harmonious."

Laughter erupted in the elevator.

My face turned deathly pale with rage.

Bullshit!

He never even touched me! Where the hell was all this filth coming from?!

"You—! We never even—"

"Thank you for the kind gesture, Hannah, but no need."

The man beside me held my wrist, chuckling softly, his demeanor calm and unshaken.

Yet the words he spoke silenced everyone in the elevator"

"Compared to experience served on a platter, I'd much rather teach Hannah myself.

"After all, we have all the time in the world to explore… at our own pace.

"As for you, Hannah… well, you won't have that chance."

I had panicked and rushed to the nearest hotel to help him sober up—

Never realizing that the hotel belonged to Sean.

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Lloyd. This must be the worst matchmaking experience ever."

Gerald lowered his gaze and wiped his hair with a towel.

His lips quirked into a faint, amused smile.

"It was… quite terrible, indeed."

Hotel lobby.

Sean stepped out of the elevator with a stormy expression, his presence dark and oppressive.

The people trailing behind him, however, seemed oblivious. One of them clapped him on the shoulder with a laugh"

"Sean, turns out Hannah isn't as dull as we thought.

"A proper, obedient girl like her—teachable, moldable—actually sounds kind of exciting, don't you think?

"That guy she's with looked pretty decent. I'd bet they're rolling in bed right now—"

"Bang!"

The trash can was kicked over with a loud crash.

Sean's expression was icy as he shoved the woman beside him away.

The veins on the back of his clenched fist bulged.

His chest rose and fell sharply before he suddenly cursed under his breath and turned around—

Slamming the up button for the elevator.

The doors slid open instantly—it had been on the first floor all along.

The people behind him gaped as Sean strode inside, furiously jabbing the close button like he was fighting an enemy.
