My Birthday, My Downfall novel Chapter 5

"Come on, big sister. I'll help you change right now!"

Lily took my hand and dragged me into a private room next to the banquet hall.

The moment the door closed, I saw who was sitting inside.

It was the dozen or so "instructors" who had tormented me!

They stood up and surrounded me, their smiles sinister.

Lily's eyes were full of satisfaction.

"Emma Stone, I told you I would make you leave the Stone family for good."

"You still don't know, do you? These instructors weren't hired by Mom, Dad, and Jake at all. It was me!"

"Hahaha..."

My skin crawled as I finally understood why Mom, Dad, and Jake kept saying the instructors couldn't have abused me.

So that's how it was!

Thinking of their inhuman torture, I trembled as I begged Lily:

"Please let me go? I promise I won't compete with you for Mom, Dad, and Jake's attention anymore. I'll cut ties with them as soon as I leave here!"

Lily threw the dress on the floor, her smile turning malicious.

"Even if you're willing, they won't let you go! Emma Stone, this time I want you to stay in that rehabilitation center forever, never to come out again!"

With that, she messed up her own hair and signaled to the "instructors" with her eyes.

They laughed wickedly as they reached for me.

The next moment, they pushed me aside in my terror and began tearing at Lily's dress.

"No! Help—"

Lily screamed, and the door was quickly kicked open.

Jake charged in first, and Lily threw herself crying into his arms.

"Big sister said it's all my fault that she was locked in rehab. She hired all these people to teach me a lesson..."

Jake's face immediately darkened.

"Emma Stone, you really shouldn't have been released."

Mom and Dad berated me:

"Lily kindly gave you her own dress, and this is how you treat her?!"

"Speak quickly!"

Jake's eyes bulged with rage.

"We saw Miss Emma jump out the window! Those criminals, seeing something had gone wrong, jumped into the river and fled! Luckily we acted in time and caught the last one who tried to jump!"

Mom and Dad rose in panic, their faces drained of color.

"Quick, send people to rescue her! Emma can't swim!"

The manager trembled as he explained that waiters had already jumped in to save her.

"Where's that criminal? I'll interrogate him now about what they did to my sister that drove her to jump in the river!"

Jake's face turned sinister as he strode out.

Lily could no longer stay lying down and rushed forward to grab Jake.

"Jake, those criminals were all hired by big sister to teach me a lesson. Since they're her people, they surely won't harm her!"

"Otherwise, Dad wouldn't have left big sister alone with them, right?"

Dad nodded at her words but still looked worried.

"I know those people were hired by Emma, but why she must jump into the river?"
