Chapter 1149 Argument
"What the heck, Colin? I was just trying to help you sort through your family mess, and you call me emotionally clueless? Let's be clear on this. I haven't charged you a cent. I'm doing this for free, in my own time," Lennon stated firmly, his gaze fixed on Colin.
Lennon smirked. "You've been CEO for what, a few days? And you think you're all that? Without Damien, you wouldn't know how badly you were being played!"
"That's enough! Calm down, Lenn!" Damien cut in, frowning before Lennon could finish.
Lennon's anger boiled over. He fixed a cold stare on Colin and slammed the documents onto the table with a resounding thud, "If it weren't for you being Damien's brother, and if you hadn't married Lucy, I wouldn't even care about your mess!"
"A few favors from Anthony Gray and a comfortable few years have clouded your judgment. Now you can't tell right from wrong? You can't even see he screwed over your own aunt? And you call yourself emotionally intelligent? What a joke! With that, Lennon slammed a cup onto the floor, shattering it. "I'm not here to babysit fools!"
Colin had never been treated like this before. He turned back, glaring at Lennon's retreating figure, and retorted, "Without my uncle's support, I wouldn't be who I am today! What's wrong with being grateful?"
Lennon stopped dead in his tracks. In Colin, he saw his younger self— naive, loyal, and ultimately trapped under the Belcourts' thumb.
The woman he loved was crushed by the Belcourt family, and his child was nearly run over by Violet. These were the consequences of blind loyalty. Now, he didn't despise Colin; he despised what he once was.
How foolish he'd been to feel indebted to his enemies, giving them the power to hurt his loved ones.
Taking a calming breath, Lennon closed his eyes, his voice strained. "One day, you'll realize how misplaced your gratitude truly is."
He slammed the door behind him and stormed out.
"Apologize to him. Nobody else can do what Lenn can for you." Damien said firmly.
For the rest of the morning, Colin was anxious and stressed about how to make amends with Lenn.
They used to share an office. But after their morning blow-up, Lennon, still fuming, had his secretary move everything to the office next door.
Now, a transparent wall separated them. Colin could see Lennon through the clear glass between them, watching him hustle on the other side without knowing what he was busy with.
Turning back, Damien's office felt cold and depressing. The drama of the morning had put him in a foul mood all day.
