Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) novel Chapter 1128

Chapter 1128 Frustration
The effects of his kidney transplant surgery unexpectedly affected Lucy's life.

"If only I hadn't taken that kidney..." Lennon muttered under his breath.

Colin furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?"

Lennon quickly composed himself, offering a faint smile. "Oh, it's nothing."

Lennon took a moment to collect his thoughts before saying, "You should inform Anthony about the progress we've made in a positive direction."

"What positive news?" Colin inquired.

"On your first day in charge, you skillfully handled those troublesome shareholders. You should share that with Anthony," Lennon recommended.

Colin's eyes lit up with realization. "Ah, you're right."

He quickly grabbed his phone and called Anthony. The phone rang persistently, but there was no answer on the other end.

Colin felt let down as he ended the call with a sigh. "He must be busy," he thought to himself.

Anthony's phone was sitting quietly on the windowsill of the hospital ward, and he didn't realize he had missed a call.

"Dorothy Vines," Anthony pronounced sharply.

Beside the bed, Anthony fixed a piercing glare on the woman before him. "What's your game?"

"I've dedicated everything to the Gray Group; I've built it from the ground up, and now you want to give my life's work to someone else!?" Anthony's voice boomed with anger.

"Yes, I may have used the Lenoir family's resources to propel my success," he admitted, his tone tinged with defiance.

"I've been there for Colin for over twenty years. Shouldn't he have paid me back by now?" Anthony asked, clearly frustrated.

"Why does the Lenoir family think they have a right to take credit for what I've created?" he demanded, his words cutting through the air.

"Jude has no desire for our family fortune. I have two capable sons ready to take the reins."

"Dad, how much longer until I become president at this rate?" His distress was unmistakable.

Anthony clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing with determination. "Stop crying! I'll deal with it!"

With a frustrated growl, he angrily tossed the phone aside.

Anthony glared fiercely at the woman before him, his rage boiling. His hand shot out, fingers curling into a vengeful grip. "I should have put an end to you five years back! I never should've spared you a breath!"

"You—" The woman began to speak but abruptly cut off her words.

"Dad," a voice interjected, breaking the tension.

Before Anthony could react, a calm voice drifted in from the ward's entrance. "Are you having trouble with Mom's neck? Do you need my help?"

The unexpected interruption snapped Anthony back to reality. Clearing his throat, he quickly retracted his hand. "The doctor mentioned muscle atrophy in Mom's body, so I was just giving her a massage."
