Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 226
Not only did Adam have a pleasant voice, but the sincere tone mixed with a hint of helplessness and despair was something Lumma had never seen before. This made her, a woman with no marital experience, want to help him.
Lumma said, “Mr. Hills, in my opinion, the fact that you have these thoughts is a key factor to your marriage’s success.”
“Really?” Adam paused, then asked, “What do women typically expect from their husbands?”
“I can’t speak for other women. As for my husband, I don’t need him to make a lot of money, but his life cannot be complicated, respect me, my family, my career, and consult with me on any decisions. A successful marriage requires both partners to work hard.” In Lumma’s view, Lucas already met several of these criteria, which made her want to explore a relationship with him.
When Lucas had misunderstood her in the past, he had still shown a willingness to visit her sick grandmother, a clear sign of respect for elders.
Listening to Lumma’s criteria, Adam realized that he met all of them except for the ability to earn
money. “Does he really not need to make money?”
Lumma laughed, “Mr. Hills, what are you thinking? What I meant was I don’t need him to be able to
support the family financially because I can do that myself. However, if he could contribute
financially, that would certainly be a bonus. We are all adults, and having equal economic abilities
should lead to a more harmonious household.”
Adam nodded. “I’ve learned a lot.”
Lumma was taken aback by his response. “Mr. Hills, you should really ask someone with more
experience about these things. I’m just guessing.”
Ruby thought for a moment, then admitted Lumma hadn’t. “But he really is good.”
Harry retorted, “That’s exactly what I’m trying to say. If Lumma thinks he’s good, she’ll believe anything he says. If he wanted to deceive Lumma, it’d be a piece of cake.”
Ruby argued, “Why would he necessarily want to deceive Lumma?”
Harry responded, “My male intuition tells me so.”
Ruby snapped, “Just drive, Harry. If you keep badmouthing Adam, Lumma might really get angry.”
Harry remained silent.
Harry truly felt Adam was up to something with Lumma.
Why wouldn’t anyone believe him?
